  8. Are you new to the Mine-imator forums? If so, why not introduce yourself here? A little about me: My name is David and I like programming, making videos and listening to music. What music? We'll, pretty much anything from the 70s to the mid 90s, like rock/pop (Queen, David Bowie, 10cc), electro-pop/disco/synth (Pet Shop Boys, Sparks, Depeche Mode) or rock/synth (Simple Minds, Electric Light Orchestra).   9. Greetings everyone! In this dev update, I'll be covering a handful of new features I've been working on for Mine-imator 1.3.0. However, before we dive into the following eye candy, I want to mention that due to the sheer size of this update, its official release is not in the near future-- and doesn't have an ETA. Unlike the past two updates, 1.1.0 and 1.2.0, this update includes a variety of goals. This includes an effort to improve rendering, animation workflow, and the interface along with adding new features that may come with them. Though during development, I'll be posting dev updates more often to give insight on how development is going. With that being said, this post will highlight a couple of the first big improvements to come to the update. Renders used in this dev update were made by @Hozq. Lighting improvements The way lighting is applied to objects has changed in 1.3.0. Before, ambiance only affected dark areas, but now, ambiance is applied more accurately to the scene by being applied additively to pre-existing lighting in the scene. This allows for brighter scenes and improves the appearance of dark areas such as areas with AO. Changes to shadows Shadows are getting a significant upgrade in 1.3.0. Previously, shadows used a method that would blur all shadows in the scene. Now, shadows are rendered multiple times determined by a new samples setting that scatters the shadow maps of lights around, allowing for shadows to be harder near its caster, and softer the further away it is. (Also to clear up a misconception, this is not PCSS. ) An improvement was also made to the way sun shadows are cast, allowing the sun to act as a proper directional light in the scene. Volumetric rays This feature has been requested many times over the past few years, and is finally being added to 1.3.0. However due to (technical) restrictions, the rays are only available for the sun. These rays are not rendered in screen-space and will appear even if the sun is not in-frame. As mentioned before, rendering isn't the only aspect of Mine-imator that will be getting improvements though however, that's the first part of this update I'll be tackling so it may be a while till other features are shown off.   16. Hey, I made these assets for an animation back in February, and I don't have any use for them now. So, I decided to release them to the public. Use them for whatever you like. Credit is appreciated. Important: The piano model was not made with the intention of being animated. The keys do not move, nor are there the proper number of keys.   25. i know i just made a status but just wanted to say this, why/how does update 1.16 change minecraft for the worse? from what ive seen, the problem that most people have is that: 1. it is overwhelming for some people, this isn't right because the game is basically the exact same for the nether, find a fortress, get blaze, get rods, and leave, this update just gives you more reason to return to the nether, and explore it. 2. it feels too much like a mod, at some point a game that's lasted about a decade is gonna have this, you cant keep pumping out content that doesn't feel like a mod. 3. Mojang is just ruining the game, sure i could see this with bedrock, micro transactions and such, but even then you don't NEED those to play the game how it should be played. there is nothing that's been broken about the minecraft core, minecraft is still a game to be enjoyed but lots and lots of people, and mojang helps that by creating these updates for people to enjoy, for people to have a reason to come back to the game. not making more updates would kill the game immensely, and i don't think anyone wants that. sure mojang made some sucky updates no one remembers or likes, but mojang also creates these great updates that change the game for the better, and fix the issues of those previous updates. dont be scared to change from 1.8 to 1.16, although its a whole other 8 full updates, the game is still the same, it hasnt changes, besides new things for you to do, to keep the game exciting. now to note, i dont hate anyone who disagrees, if anything i want your view on it. if i got anything wrong, tell me

  27. Finally someone takes the beautiful standard that wallpapers have been at for months and applies it to an animation. This is absolutely beautiful and the animation looks great too. With the smooth movement of the cars (that looked phenomenal btw), I would have hoped the characters had the same smoothness to them, although I enjoyed the stop motion style a lot when cars weren't involved. I can look past a bit of inconsistency though because this animation rocks. I really hope people take inspiration from this and we see more of it in the future, incredible work.

    Happy Birthday ShotU!

    Yesterday was my friend @ShotUAnimations's birthday, so I wanted to show him some love. This render was meant to be ready yesterday, but the set took longer than expected. I've know ShotU since I joined back in this community, back in September. Through this time he has willingly helped me with multiple aspects of animation and taught me many things. Also through this time he has been my render engine, as I do not yet have computer strong enough to render most of my creations. This means that without Shot most of the content I have created in the past 10 months wouldn't exist. I am grateful he has been here to lend me his help, even when he doesn't want to. Even though we've had rough times, you've always come back to me. Thank you for being here with me ShotU, as a friend. With this I wish you a happy birthday. I wouldn't forget about you
