I grew up with 360 as well. I switched to xbox one edition, then came Bedrock. I was mad at first, and for good reason at the time. Since then the game has much improved and I think it's better than legacy console edition.
I think even if Bedrock hadn't come along, 360 edition would'v been canceled regardless. Really, Bedrock is only responsible for the cancellation of xbox one Edition.
-
Bedrock sucks, it's not better in anyway way. At least the micro transactions in 360 were worth it. The lighting in bedrock is bad, the micro transactions shouldn't be a thing, and the servers are money grabs. It's like there trying to trick children into buying a bunch of stuff, to make them think they are better because they have a certain rank/skin.
There is no denying that Java is superior.
-
I believe I finally understand why some Java players hate Bedrock. I think you realize it's better, or at least just as good as Java.
Minecraft Bedrock Edition is inferior to Java Edition. Minecraft Bedrock is, as some have said, perhaps a 'cash-grab'. But it is still fun. What more could you ask for in a game?
Despite all it's faults, being inferior, being a cash grab Bedrock is just as enjoyed, if not more enjoyed, by more people than Java. Java and Bedrock both have the same purpose: to provide fun and entertainment. Bedrock is more available to more people.
They both have the same purpose, the same function, but Bedrock does it better.
If you're a Bedrock hating Java player, this must burn you like the heat of a thousand suns.

So what do you all think of the 3d spyglass model in today's snapshot?
I had always hoped it would be 3d, the 2d item just look wrong to me in 3rd person. Although I think they should keep the 2d inventory model, like how the trident works. 2d in inventory, 3d in hand.

@Spontaneous Explosions Sure, it's a model, but said model is essentially just an extruded plane, just like the appearance of standard items in the world.

Two subjects I know very well
Portal and MinecraftI have an idea for a story for both.
Which should I do? -
Oooh. Structure blocks on Bedrock can be activated with redstone(In Load mode)
^^^(How to build zombie pigman farm, lazy edition xD)
I don't think they can do this on java?
Also, Java's area limit for Structure blocks is 32, whereas Bedrocks was 64, but now they can go past that. Bug maybe, idk.(Those in video go up to 69)

Nope, you can activate them with redstone in Java as well. The one thing that sucks is that when you use redstone to have it save something, it only saves to RAM and not your hard drive, so that structure's lost when you exit the world. The portal thing's cool tho, GG Bedrock players
-
@EliphazBedrock has free mods. They're arguably better on Bedrock as well. Instead of mods infecting your whole game like Java, mods are per world on bedrock. Not yet as extensive as java, but getting there. Bedrock has no shaders as of right now, but early next year it will be getting free RTX ray tracing graphics. They only 'grab' your money if you're willing to give it.
Idk about the server thing, but how in the heck can you say java has better players? What does that even mean? Have you spoken with each and every one of them? And you'd have to compare them with Bedrocks player base, and they is a LOT more of them on Bedrock.
-
Aaaaaaand foxes on Bedrock! It's about time.
Also notable: structure blocks, item frames on floors and ceilings, brown mushrooms, and suspicious stew.
Oh, and that new skin system.
I think this rather small update took longer to make than 1.2, the Better Together update. What took em so long??
-
Okay, I'm pretty happy with the 3rd combat test. Add it to bedrock. Now, please.

@Cubic Ralsei That was intentional.

It's been hinted that Bedrock will get the first Nether Update beta this Wednesday.
That's too bad, that means 1.15 is almost done, and that sucks. We got a lot of great parity features, but it's just another drop in the bucket.
Plus we were promised to get the Java spawn mechanics, and that's not in beta yet. Maybe that will be in the full release only.

I didn't mean to do that, but yeah I see where you're coming from.
Anyway, Bedrock devs have also confirmed that going forward, updates will be next to Java, in terms of the name and number as well as features. They plan to not spread content from Java's 1.16 over 3 Bedrock updates like they've don't in the past(Update Aquatic was 2 BE updates, and it's took 3 or 4 for all Java 1.14 features to come.)
So, glad to see that's not going to be a thing anymore.
-
I wish Bedrock dev's would hurry up and add custom block model support.
It would be great if Bedrock block models use the same format as Java's. Although I cant see that happening. Bedrock's block models will have to be more complicated, since Java models only support visual models, and Bedrock will have to support visual, physical and hitbox models(Since you can add new blocks to the game with resource/behavior packs).
Game features parity is going great for Bedrock, been getting all sorts of Java features.
Just wish they'd focus on the technical side for a bit.

Yeah, but's good now
And about to get a whole lot better. Like, a lot.
The Nether update will add tons of parity features to java.
Plus, parity has been a key focus for the past few updates, and will be even more so in the coming ones.
And update numbers will be the same going forward.
1.16 is the nether update for both versions.
See, Bedrock launched at version 1.2 and since then they've been releasing updates like crazy to get the numbers to be the same on the 2 versions.
They even skipped 1.3 and 1.15, and split the update aquatic into Bedtock 1.4 and 1.5.

Id argue bedrock is still a sloppy rip off.

Really? I thought path tracing is the "Full ray tracing" that is super slow but achieves max realism and is used for professional 3D like Cycles from Blender.
SEUS PTGI can't be full path tracing like Cycles because it runs at 30 fps with no visible noise. For the blender render I'm working on, Cycles renders at 70spf on 512 samples with no denoiser.
-
Path tracing is just a better way to do ray tracing, but the idea is fundamentally the same.
The reason SEUS PTGI doesn't look noisy (on first glance, that is), is because it's only using path-tracing for the lighting. The models, textures, particle effects... all those are rendered like normal so those won't suffer from noise issues. It's also running quite fast compared to normal renderers because it's using a very low sample rate and very few bounces per frame. Instead, it will just shoot more rays over time to compensate and get a better looking image. That's why you might spot some ghosting artifacts or... shading looking like it's slowly fading in when you force it to update.

I'm confused. Why are people rioting??

@Swift Ive not seen one person defend the cop. I wouldnt have thought you were defending him.
-
Ah yes, let's throw the teenage girl who recorded evidence in jail for... not trying to face 4 cops who don't seem to mind sadistically killing people. I'm sure it would've gone well and it absolutely wouldn't have allowed them to silence the story.

@Rollo I think they did want to make it. They had a working version way back in 2017, but it just ran like crap so they started over.
-
My experience with the Nether update:
Update announced, I'm exited. It's not a cave update, but still a much needed one I think.
It was revealed that the mountain biome update would not be in 1.15 or 1.16, but in a future update.
Then they said that fletching and smithing tables would not be getting functionality in 1.15 or 1.16, but in a future update.
Even though they actually said that functionality would be in the next major update.
So, 1.16 seems to have a few let-downs in it, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't be disappointed with it. The nether needs an update, and the stuff they'v shown is really cool. I love blue nether wart forest.

I kinda hate the new Bedrock skin system. First of all, ew. Just no. I'm not even gonna use it, ima have my old classic type skin. No problem. Not like I can use it anyway, because it doesn't work offline on Xbox or Switch. Maybe win10, idk.
-
So, for some dumb reason Dinsey+ can only download shows onto mobile devices. What. The. Heck.
Is it likely this function will come to other devices eventually?

The Senate is going to have a fair, non-partisan impeachment trial for both parties. President Donald Trump will have a chance to defend himself, unlike the unconstitutional trial in the House.
Nervous Nancy Pelosi must be writhing in agony.

Alright fair enough. But I’ve still yet to see a rule saying we’re not allowed to discuss politics on the forums, therefore it’s allowed as long as no one escalates it. (Which has happened many times)
-
And it’s a ridiculous thing to talk about on ANY website or forum. But YET! Here we all are.
-
The Senate has voted against having more witnesses, as is constitutional.
Look, Article I, section 2 of the US Constitution:
"The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment."
See, only the house can impeach, and they have. They already made their case, had their trial(as unfair as it was) and voted to impeach.
They don't get to have more witnesses in the Senate. It is not their right.
Besides, if they have such a solid case and "overwhelming" evidence, why would they need to have more?
They're saying that the Senate trial was unfair. Uh, no, someone needs to Google the rules of the Clinton impeachment. The same rules were used in this trial.
-
So what mob are you voting for tomorrow and why?
I'm going glow squid I think. Our choices really suck this time. Plus we have several types of cows and illagers but only one squid.
- Show previous comments 6 more
-
Probably the glow squid. I really don't like any of them though, seeing as they're just resprites of existing mobs. I'm just hoping that they add some cool functionality to the squid, like some kind of glowing dye or something. I'd be significantly happier if they just added all of them and stopped this stupid voting stuff, though.
-
Moobloom. The illager would just be a nuisance for people who like exploring mountains, its gonna be the phantom all over again, the squid is literally a useless reskin, but the moobloom wouldn't bother anyone and it would add an additional functionality to bees which tbh didn't get enough features also it's from a biome I even forgot was an actual biome and its addition could bring more attention to it, plus potentially more flowers?
-
I know this is over but why do people keep saying dumb stuff about the Iceologer? Like, are you forgetting that normal mobs are still gonna spawn on the mountains? The Phantom comparison makes the least sense considering it's locked to a single biome, any other hostile mob already in the game is more of a "Phantom" than it
