The forum space has changed entirely man. Cool to see you pop in. I remember loving your rigs, especially your Find the Pieces Hero rig as seen in your pfp. I still check in often and occasionally post stuff but discord is where most of the people I interacted with moved to, plus we all grew up lol.

Yeah... kind of proud of my Laptop though, its 11 years old... crazy... not the best in gaming, but it sure does keep up with any modern basic Laptop out there... crazy...

My OG laptop is still around and kickin' at 12yrs old, though it's mostly used to watch movies or print things now that I have a desktop. I have personally swapped it's hard drive for an SSD, and replaced the fan, battery, charger, and even the screen. What can I say? That laptop was really good to me so I took good care of it. Cool to see other laptops still going strong past their expiration dates.

  4. Anyone else have a Minecraft world or worlds that is much more than just a world?

Over the past 5 years my brother and I spent a lot of time building a world. But he left and joined the Army a few months ago. I haven't touched the world since, and I don't think I will again.

I remember back in December of 2016 I think, late at night loading up this world for the first time on Xbox 360 in eager anticipation of what was the Console Edition equivalent of 1.9. I remember defeating the Ender Dragon for the first time. Transferring the world to Xbox One Edition and eventually Bedrock for the Update Aquatic. Even losing it to corruption multiple times(thankfully being able to recover it) and one time on Bedrock accidentally deleting it and have to revert back to the latest Xbox One Edition version and rebuild a year's worth of progress(In creative of course. Ain't no one got time to rebuild that in survival). There's projects that are big and beautiful, some that are just hideous, but I never think of destroying them. Some that were never even completed.

But now that this incredible journey is seemingly over, looking back I realize it was never what version we were playing, or what we were building or doing, but just being there doing it was the best part. I can get so caught up in whatever the next big update is and all the amazing features being added, but this made me remember why I fell in love with the game in the first place.

What was once my survival world is now a priceless archive of some of my fondest memories.

Now, I have no intention of quitting Minecraft. In fact I'm looking forward to beginning a brand new adventure when the Caves and Cliffs update releases.

Feels silly to post something like this, but I was just thinking about it, so idk.

I'm proud to say I still have my first world. Created back in September of 2013, I went with the simple default title "New World". I love that world so much, and every year I go back on it to explore my early days. Last year I made a copy of it and brought it over to my desktop (I only had my little laptop back then). For the first time, I was able to look at this world with a render distance above 5. My laptop ran Minecraft well until 1.9 and it can't get good performance out of it anymore. Anyway, it was a fresh new moment to see my world in greater detail and shaders. I was actually surprised by how close everything seemed.

Anyway, that's a short version of my world story.

  5. Man, I would hate to have to learn English.I mean, I did. But if I didn't already speak it, it would really suck to learn.

Just look at this: through, though, cough, laugh, tough. They're pronounced throo, tho, coff, laff, tuff.

Whoever decided the spelling for these words was bonkers.

And while I'm at it, ya know what else is bonkers? The Imperial(or English) measurement system.

12 inches in a foot, 3 feet in a yard, 5280 feet in a mile. Seriously, who came up with these numbers!?

And why does the US still use this? Everyone else uses the Metric System, because it's infinitely superior. Everything is based on 10. A nice, even 10.

    1. Dr. Nexil

      Dr. Nexil

The imperial measurement system is garbage. I have a german car so luckily all my tools and wrenches to work on it are in metric, so say if a 12mm wrench is too small for something, I move up to a 13mm. However, unless your tools are well organized or you have the numbers memorized, you basically have to do math to figure out what size imperial wrench to use.

  7. What should I make a wallpaper of, I'm extremely bored and whenever I ask on discord I get sarcastic or stupid answers. Why I think the forums will give a better answer is beyond me.

    I'm going to regret this aren't I.

Look for some inspiration through google images or Pexels. This website is just free large resolution photographs and I use it to quickly search something and see what professionals have done. Also, one of my favorite things to do is to imagine a character or item in a situation where it would otherwise not be. A quick example off the top of my head is a cow underwater or a slime with an elytra idk. Hope this helps a bit

    (only 2 weeks to go!)

  9. When the Nether Update was announced I was absolutely over the moon. I have never been more excited for an update before but now I dont understand why I feel the way I do. There's a cave update and I almost feel like I really dont like the direction the game is going in, which doesnt make sense because Ive always been mostly optimistic for what comes next to Minecraft. Yeah, sure I have my gripes but I just want to come to an understanding why I dont feel excited about this upcoming update. Maybe it has to do with the whole "Grrr the game is becoming modlike!!!" mentality, which Ive never really had. I think archaeology might be putting me off too, it seems like such a niche thing to add to the game, something youd do like twice and forget about it.

    1. Dr. Nexil

      Dr. Nexil

I agree that adding mobs for the sake of cute and endangered is not the mentality to go, but as far as I know they at least have more usefulness than polar bears and pandas. I like the idea of an axolotl army! (but they really could have had a fantasy spin, that'd be cool)

  10. This update...I have no words...I'm in awe.

All I can really say is, they've done it right. I saw the new cave generation, and that is exactly what I always wanted. The features in this update are all incredible and unique.

I love it, and I can't wait for this update.

I mean, I was excited for the Nether Update, but thats got nothing on this.

  13. what, in your opinion, were some of the best/important facial rigs? i'm interested in finding the most influential facial rigs (such as zeuxs' and skibbz') and maybe some minor ones that pioneered advances in rig development

    1. Dr. Nexil

      Dr. Nexil

Thanks for the mention Frost! :)

I remember pioneering face rigs (at least to me, I wasn't/never have been extremely influential like skibbz). KeepOnChucking and I developed a 3d face rig by the end of 2016 after being inspired by Nimi's first alpha glitch face rig. Which, while I'm at it, is my response to the status question. Nimi's face rig jump started me and probably many others into alpha face rig making.

Also... My face rig work was almost 4 years ago????

  17. How the hell do people make such smooth bends slopes and such in Modelbench?

    1. Dr. Nexil

      Dr. Nexil

Blocks bend better than planes and 3d planes, also always move shapes with the pivot offset, not regular position. Other than that I would suggest watching YouTube video tutorials on it.

Lots and lots of parts. Not just shapes, but connected parts. For example, this model I'm working on has 16 parts for the cape here:

  21. The Siege of Mandalore begins! And wow, that first episode was 30 minutes?? YES

    1. Dr. Nexil

      Dr. Nexil

The Mando's flashbacks are of the Clone Wars, and I guess they could possibly show the Siege, but because he was a foundling and not a born Mandalorian, I'm not sure it's Mandalore that he's on.
