You're too kind, but you put in the effort so I deserve no credit really. I'm at least glad that there's some good gun rigs being made.

And that status for the files? Yeah they're toast. Once Dropbox accounts become inactive for a year, the pending files are put on a 6 month backup until the user reactivates their account. I got to it around 8 months after.

can you reupload it? ideally in a pack

Sadly I lost all of the files. Dropbox is unable to recollect the files. I'll see if there's some other way (maybe like an old laptop) to restore them, but it's probably best to ask around.

  3. This build looks and feels much more polished than the last one. A thing I noticed was that the timeline has a striped pattern as things get added in to tell where things are while working which is a nice little touch.

Though one thing that wasn't documented was how the performance tanked compared to the last official build. For comparison, I loaded this schematic and here's how they faired on the default settings:

    1.0.6

    1.10 prerelease

    d8c004d00a.png

This one frame drop is clearly unacceptable and I hope you guys change this before the final release. It would be a shame to see the hard work going into this for the performance impact this has to become a major source of friction for the community.

Thank you guys for your hard work and dedication to the program, even after 4 years of this community's growth.

You didnt have to say any of that, I felt like you were just repeating what everyone else was saying, and I explained multiple times about the subject.

I could have just asked him, but I wanted to see what I could do with it, I wanted to see it without a bunch of edits. He created his wallpaper based on a picture someone else made, why can I not do the same?

It's not a parody, I wanted to see what I could do without editing. Like I said above, he created his wallpaper based on a picture someone else made, why can't I do the same? I enjoyed making the wallpaper, I had fun. If I was making it and going to post it, why not just ask him in the topic?

I feel like I keep saying the same thing over and over. Getting the same replies over and over. Am I not being clear enough?

AIght. I see now. Sorry for being so rude about it, i was getting clouded by this whole thing is all. (That doesn't make much sense, but I can't really take back what I said) I hope to see more of what you can make.

I didnt make this just because Skibbz has gotten more attention. Is it really that bad that I saw something someone made and wanted to see what I could do with it? I see people this type of thing all the time. I had fun making this wallpaper, all I did was ask Skibbz a simple question and everyone assumes I am attacking him.

I never said there was an original message. Can't I show anyone how something looks without editing? I have my preference and I want to share it.

I do accept he does things differently, and I dont agree, that's okay. I never wanted to cause tension, I just wanted to remake something that I saw Skibbz do, it was a cool concept. I understand everyone seems to assume I was "attacking" him, I was not.

I don't see why I have to say all that just to get a proper response about it. I'm aware that you didn't intend to cause harm, but when he was asking about it, you weren't very forthcoming with his responses. Many (myself included) may assume you were aiming for tension. The fact that @Nimi also claimed there was some underlying tension doesn't help this case either.

But to ask him a question, using a wallpaper of something he already did? You're asking a question using a thick concept, and no matter your intentions, it's just going to invite this kind of discussion.

If this question was that important, why not consult him first? There has to be a reason you made a topic about it, since you don't seem to see it as a parody of the wallpaper.

  6. You need to re-evaluate your stance on this. You can't seriously be making this just because SKIBBZ has gotten more attention with his work, and you want to jab at how he does it? Give me a goddamn break. If someone had the potential and they knew it but quit because they were keeping score and someone else got more likes than them? That's their own fault.

Countless times I've seen him try to put other animators who put in hardcore effort into their work, along with some of the other well-known people into the spotlight. Hell, I give a like or two to those that try. But when they fall off the face of the earth because I give them constructive criticism? Then there was nothing I could have said that would help them improve.

Only a few people unlock their potential, and they become regular posters. Hell, I was a regular because I posted a lot (and I still do, just not much content so to speak of) and SKIBBZ is as regular as they come. He worked his ass off as long as I did to get where we are now. (I said we, as in being in the top 5) and if having sooo much trouble while having so much net-worth as a member doesn't mean anything to you, then just stop reading this.

This isn't about the original message, and you know this to be true. The rest can be summed up with what @Emaniplex said. He has valid points, that one.

We should aim to be as diverse as possible, since that's how "real" animation goes anyhow. (I put real in quotes since people think 3D animation can't be as varied as 2D, but I disagree on that one.) Just make something that shines and don't step on anyone along the way. It's a hobby for most, and being this cutthroat for something someone does for free is one thing, and offering constructive criticism is another. Be the adult here and just accept that he does it differently. You don't have to even agree, because I don't agree with some of his methods either. I'm just not aiming to cause tension when I say it.

  7. A faithful recreation of one of my favorite whiteknight wallpapers. Though it's got some issues:

    • There's some wierd SSAO and shadow stuff going on with the shield. Got rectangles instead. Try upping the sunlight range
    • Poses are a bit inaccurate. The knight's left arm isn't more forward, but sticks out. His shield is in the wrong orientation. The princesses' arm doesn't appear to make full contact
    • FOV need to be modified. Yeah, it needs to properly convey the scene. Having the ground visible
    • The eyes, as mentioned, are a bit too low. I figured this was from the facial rig (since the eyes lower, which isn't really something that eyes don't do. Try to focus the eyes closing more on the center of their original position, since they don't follow rules for human eyes.

And lastly.. uh.. that cape. That dress.. with those shoes? They clash far too much with a minecraft style. I know it's been said a lot, but don't use realistic capes or whatnot to save time. A wallpaper should stay consistent with it's scene. My assumption is that a decision like that must have been done to save time. Detail is key here.

That said, I really like that most of the scene is in tact here. I would really like this more, but these things just irk me. I can't in good will love it with these glaring flaws. Please keep what I say as friendly criticism, and not me bagging on your wallpaper.

But the reality is: We all use VPN (or proxy server) to access blocked sites and boost connection speed. Most people does not have this. (And they shouldn't because some sociality problem. Seriously, most people should NOT have this because their unpredictable behavior.)

Yeah. Tor is heavily used for that reason alone.

That sucks, i hope some more attention is brought to the matter in the next few years. It seems like it's actually bad for trade, so China may let up on their rules in the future. (Here's hoping)

Basically, because the Internet access limitation (or another word: "GFW"), many Chinese user cannot directly to get latest version. So they often want the author for a republish permission (of course in good and legal use). But in my opinion, I don't think this is a good things. Because many OTHER Chinese just take others work and "own" it to satisfy their vanity, or even to benefit their own. This is currently a sociality problem and will not be solved in a short period of time.

Because I am a Chinese, and not want they  take my work to make their money, so I am not release my work (translation) in public in China mainland. I only release in here.

That's a very real reason. Maybe a torrent download could be uploaded for those who want to seed to download it using a vpn. (I'm not entirely sure that works, but it's worth a shot)

    You should really finish this.

I never knew you were that good at animating, but that was amazing.

I had a lot of passion on this one. I was really riding on it. I simply don't have the spare time to even animate anymore, so I don't think I can finish it now. I may not end up finishing it later since i'd have come up with a new idea by that time.

    Dude, that was F***ing awesome!

Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed what I tried at the very least.

  11. I gave up on this animation a while ago. I put it here since I may not pick up the torch in a while, but it made significant progress. This was an animation for the first time that I had laid out and planned out, storyboard and all. As more time passed and my life starting moving faster, I felt less attached to this project. Now I don't even feel like picking it up, so the project is all but dead. However in an effort to garner more relevance for fake Internet points, I will let you see what I had created and with some of it's revisions.

I was really excited to actually work on this one, the animation i'd hoped would bear fruit. Though my overambition and lack of focus kept me away from the project for so long that I didn't even want to finish what I started. I'm hoping this isn't my one and only thread for this year (as my throne grows ever colder) but we'll see if I get back into things. I'll see how life pans out in the meantime, but maybe college first before animations, yeah? Thanks everyone.
