    I need help

When you save the current frame as an image it should open up the file explorer, and you can navigate to the folder you want.
  3. I was watching some random VFX tutorial to fill free time and at 4:10 he uses a vignette image from the forums lol.

Who would've thought our forums would have the first result when you search "vignette png"

Ironically, this is the post it came from:

"Don't take png images from google, everyone should know that"

Guess our friend Vexinator didnt know that.

um, this is a vfx tutorial and he just took an image from google? when you can easily make a vignette effect in almost any video editing software? lmao just tells you to not watch his videos imo

@KaryuGraphics It's true though. Pretty amateur if you ask me, plus I'm pretty sure there's a vignette feature in Vegas itself.

  4. I have 14 since I got it on sale a while ago. I'd love to update to 16 once I have the money.
  5. So Vegas Pro has a feature that lets you place orange markers on your timeline, as sort of notes for your personal memory. I whipped up some quick examples here. These markers are obviously fake but that's pretty much what I normally use them for: reminding myself of important points in the animation and some things I need to add/fix. I realized that a similar feature would be really helpful in Mine-imator itself, and I threw together a mock-up of what it might look like. Essentially you'd be able to add such markers with the little flag button I made in 10 seconds and give yourself reminders. You could also package this with a rig or animation preset you made for additional info when people download it. For example, if your rig cycles through some preview poses. It would especially be helpful for a little project I'm going to be working on. Hopefully it's considered.

  9. Sorry for the double status but I've been having some thoughts and only just got my finger on what exactly they are. I didn't really know why I took my little break but after people on foreign affairs talked about some of their problems I really started to figure out what was going on. Well, there were some personal things I wanted to fix, which I did, but I also realized some of those problems were caused by the same thing that caused the forums' problems, and I gave in.

You see, the last straw, the nail in the coffin that made me take my break, was the profile picture thing. If you weren't online to see exactly what happened, basically me and a couple other people copied the profile picture of a certain user and mocked them a little. It was pretty harmless, but pretty toxic as well. That was when I got my first warning point in the last 2 years. That was when I knew there was a problem, I just didn't know exactly what problem drove me to some silly, immature, and kinda unnecessary joke.

Older members have been leaving, which isn't a bad thing in itself, but new members have been taking their place. That isn't a bad thing either, but it can sometimes feel like they're overpowering good, wholesome content. Again, they have every right to post their creations, but there is a certain attitude among a lot of them. I keep feeling the need to say it, but none of this is anyone's fault. It was all happening kind of subconsciously, don't blame anyone for having a toxic attitude. Anyway, there are a lot of new users who I think just don't really understand criticism that well. It's okay to make bad content, it's normal. It is always possible to fix, and it should be encouraged to fix. But it seems like a lot of the newer users take emotional responses to people practicing this mindset. Criticism is always a good thing, and it kind of baffles me that anyone takes offense to any criticism. Whether or not it's good criticism is up for argument, but in any case, criticism should never be considered a personal offense, to you or your work.

Still with me? Good, I'm just getting started. So this attitude, this attitude that implied criticism was worthless and that new users should be told they are perfect and that this attitude was the right attitude and that anyone who disagreed is just inherently rude, started to cause some problems. Older users who actually gave advice, sometimes jokes, couldn't help but feel offended by this new mindset. A lot of people were antagonized or invalidated, which only made things worse. These same older users felt the need to push their criticism further, getting more aggressive. After all, you can't really argue against the mindset of the newer users, so the only thing we know how to do is practice ours more aggressively. This escalated and only made it easier for new users to antagonize them, both sides thinking they're doing the right thing. This only created a very toxic atmosphere, with the divide getting bigger and bigger. Some new users felt the need to defend each other and gather together in groups, upvoting each other and downvoting others when there was a disagreement.

There is more I could talk about that, but I'm pretty confident on the cause of some trivial things that piled up over the last couple months (more or less). This affected all of us, including me. I finally gave into the toxic atmosphere and I realized there was a problem I needed to fix. At the time I had no idea what was wrong with the community, so I just took a while off to refresh myself and think about all of it.

In short, the whole community lost itself and made people feel unwelcome. The only change we can really make to fix it is personal improvement, nothing that can be encouraged. I think we all just need to kind of take a step back and keep an open mind to the input of other people. We're all important, and it's never healthy to invalidate other people, even if it's for the sake of helping yourself (yet still, in this case it does not help yourself).

    Happy day my friends.

I definitely agree with you on almost everything. but these problems arent just within the MI community. almost all communities get this phase. but the MI community has been super toxic for the longest time.

I thought I was the only one thinking about this. There are so many other factors about this new and old people thing, I’m starting to think that a lot of people here are kinda reactionary. Honestly, the downvote button means “Ew I don’t like you,” now. And I don’t see many other things that make me laugh. I would type out all of my feelings if it weren’t 11:18 PM and I’m on my phone. But for me, it’s just now like a fight for a new norm, and there are three views: The two main ones, and then the people who just overlook it, and hopefully might do something about it. People don’t have a good sense of humor now here (not you specific people, just in general) but it’s just sad.

I quit MI for two reasons: I wasn’t getting better, and redwoods was there telling me I should texture on every one of my god damn posts, which I found annoying. But I also left because of the CC. I knew I left for several reasons but I just couldn't put my finger on it. I’m gonna be cheesy and honest here: I’m legit scared that I’ll be gunned down for posting literally anything these days. Also, it isn’t just new users reacting badly. Sometimes, the older forumers don’t react appropriately either. Not many older forumers, but some think that newbies must be PERFECT, or it’s a downvote.

No freakin clue where I went with that. I guess I’m just disappointed right now here.

Yeah I agree with this. Its sad for this to happen, now I may be a new member idk but I do understand this.

And yeah sometimes may seem rude with their CC but they are just trying to help. You shouldn't leave MI because someone is rude, it wont make you feel better. I've have experienced this many times and helped my friends with this. Thanks for posting this Rollo, it helps with the problem and in time it WILL get better.

  10. Definitely better than my lightsaber rig. Mine looks more like a glowing popsicle.

    Problem

Go into your system's settings and find out which graphics card you have. It should start with Nvidia or AMD or Intel. All you need to do is search on the internet for the "nvidia drivers" or the "amd drivers". Download the latest version suggested by their websites and you should be good to go.
  12. While it's not an animation, that mistake isn't nearly enough for a dislike from me - you didn't even post it in the animation category, the rig does look fine. It could use some variations in texture, maybe a custom painted wood-like texture to slap on the outside. The model itself is definitely decent, I'm curious to see what else you can do. Don't let dislikes discourage you, they're just a number. And when you do make something great, it overruns the dislikes twofold. Whatever you do, keep making things. Continuing to make things is the best way to fix existing problems and to get better at doing it.
  13. Hey friends, so I needa say something.

The past few weeks I've felt to be in a really low place, and I don't know exactly why. I've felt like my mistakes are worse than they may really be, I've felt like my ideas are stupid. I guess I've felt kinda useless. But my point is that the forums and Discord haven't really helped with these feelings. So I'm going to take a short break from the forums and Discord for self-reflection and just to think about what exactly is causing it all. I might respond if you mention me on Discord but don't count on it.

Y'all are great, I'll probably be back in a few days, maybe a week. Just need to clear my head for a bit. <3

  16. You're probably fine, seeing as Monster School is on Amazon Prime. You're probably good to go.
  17. I know both mp4 and mov should work fine (haven't tested wmv), but I personally use mp4 every time. It just seems to work the best.
  18. Try updating your Mine-imator; the newest full version just released so the pre-releases are pretty much obsolete. Try opening the project in that newest release.
  19. Oh hey, y'all changed the colors on the Announcement widget. Seems like a good first step to a nice-lookin forum I think.

  20. Goodnight, sweet prince. Oh yeah and I know I said this on your last topic about this but don't forget Norgrender heehee.
