crustyjpeg got a reaction from niam in What's a Forum Warning Points ? How can I get one of those?
You get them for breaking the rules. As the name suggests, they're there to warn you not to break the rules again.
IIRC if you get 10 of them, you get banned from the site.

That sucks. :/ Hopefully you'll feel way better soon.
Also I can relate with the whole regretting everything you've posted here thing. Best thing to do is just remember that it was years ago and chances are nobody remembers it, and if someone did they wouldn't judge you for it. Everyone screws up a bunch when they're young and dwelling on the past doesn't get you anywhere.

crustyjpeg reacted to Emunator in Im am really felling empty headed regarding on animations and projects... what should
Here's a few ideas;
History - Animate something that occurred in history, do you have a favorite part of history?
Your life - Animate something that has happened in your life that'd be interesting, even something as simple as eating breakfast would be good for practice
Natural events - EG, Volcanoes, Earthquakes etc
Restrictive animations - Set yourself a restriction EG, An animation but only using triangles
Recreations - Recreate something someones already done, but possibly even better!
Scripting - Create a basic script and then animate it
Animals - Animals are always good practice due to some of their complex behaviors and body language
Recordings - Record gameplay with your friends on a game, and then animate it

Downvotes don't really mean much and shouldn't be taken personally.
Also creating additional accounts is against the rules.

crustyjpeg reacted to Voxy in saw this on a post, is it a new logo or just an export icon?. if it's a new logo, it
You need to learn the difference between an icon and a logo, then. This is the new logo, which has been sitting in our signatures for a while now:
The filmstrip icon is... just an icon. Who cares? It's just gonna sit in your taskbar or show up as a favicon, and for that purpose, I think it represents 'animation' a looot better than the blurry mess the current icon turns into if you shrink it down, even if isn't as Minecraft-y as the previous one.
Also, saying it's "not appealing" is just a matter of taste. Personally, I find the new icons much more pleasant to look at than ones you can't even properly read unless they're 100px tall.

I'd be super happy to join a collab as long as it's remotely interesting, which I have no doubt it will be.
It'd be great to have something to focus on for a little while since my current main project's been taking forever and I've been a little burned out on it.

crustyjpeg got a reaction from 9redwoods in Why are people always talking about 'framerates'?? When you buy a computer or a conso
You can play Minecraft at 8 FPS but it'd be pretty miserable.
Any game on low enough framerates will look very choppy and that'll do more than just harm immersion. Especially in FPS (first-person shooter not frames per second) games, you'll want to know the exact point something is at all times. You don't want things basically teleporting around if you're trying to line something (your crosshair for example) up with them.
And maybe at like 30-40 FPS (frames per second not first-person shooter) gameplay stops getting improved by higher framerates but having a higher framerate will make the game far more pleasant to look at. Generally 60 FPS is good enough for everything but some people still want more than that.
And framerates are perhaps most important in VR, where you'll want your arms to be where your arms actually are at all times and you'll likely get motion sickness if your head movement is even a little choppy.
If I had to pick between having all my games capped at 24 FPS or 480p (i normally go 1080p60 since that's my monitor's limit) I'd take the hit on resolution without a second thought.

crustyjpeg got a reaction from CaptainClipy in I voted baby! Trump 2020!
@Voxy I suppose I should clarify, Daryl is a more extreme example.
Once somebody's actually racist or something equivalent then I can understand wanting to avoid them. But crap like that is very extreme, and very uncommon.
At the very least within the so-called Overton Window hating someone over their political opinions is needlessly hostile and counterproductive.
-
crustyjpeg got a reaction from CaptainClipy in I voted baby! Trump 2020!
@Voxy Intolerance of intolerance is still intolerance. The reason people are being pushed to extremism is because people respond to anything they say with hate rather than civilized discussion.
As I mentioned earlier, Daryl Davis is a great example of how one should treat differing political opinions and the people that have them.
-
crustyjpeg got a reaction from CaptainClipy in I voted baby! Trump 2020!
But they literally are.
There's not some objective, complete, universally agreed list of human rights.
What is and isn't a human right is still up for debate and while some are generally agreed on nothing is really set in stone.
Even if they are extremely important, they shouldn't be treated as some black-and-white us-vs-them bullcrap. And one's opinions can and usually will change with time, especially early in their life.
-
crustyjpeg got a reaction from Ethaniel in I voted baby! Trump 2020!
@Voxy Yes, unironically.
You can enjoy interacting with someone and like them as a person even if they're """denying your rights""", which, mind you, is a very harsh way of putting it. They aren't directly and immediately harming you by thinking a different way, and by treating them poorly you're only going to push them further away from your own political views.
edit: a great example of what i'm talking about is the one and only absolute legend that is daryl davis
