How fitting for this to be the top status of my semi-weekly visit to the forums.
My 'dead' we mean it lacks passion.
It's just not as close-knit of a community as it used to be.
A bit contributor to it is all the new kids that spam fad topics and rigs.
 
If you use the wayback machine you can go back and see how the forums were back then.
As @Holy Knight pointed out, I think a big contributor to it is also that the colossal forumers have left. 
I remember a time where there were 30-odd people in the mineimator chat at once.
I remember back when there would be posted 5 new topics an hour instead of 5 per day.
Now that is probably my best description of the forums feeling 'dead.'
It's as if its lost its core and is now moving on as an empty husk of what used to be.
Oh how I miss the 2013-2015 golden days.

I only just looked back on these forums just now, I haven't been on here for months. But I don't think it's dead, I just think there is just a new 'rotation' of members, as in, old members are leaving and new members are joining. They could believe it's dead because they don't recognise as many people? I got no idea. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah. Usually, it would just get into a big ol' argument.
Downvoter said they deserved it,
Other people from the forum try to get the bratty kid to stop downvoting people,
Downvoter downvotes people trying to help,
Downvoter gets downvoted to oblivion,
Downvoter gets even more toxic than before (somehow possible),
By now a few hours would've gone by, so nobody cares anymore,
Downvoter keeps going on about how everyone is bullying him and try to get people on his side,
Nobody cares,
Nobody cares,
Nobody cares,
...a year later...
Downvoter posts a fad rig,
Downvoter gets downvoted even further into the never-before-seen parts of negatives.

I would know. I've been on these forums for 5 years.
As you see, good behaviour is few and far between since most of the people who say 'Hey I want to try animating with minecraft!!1!' are 12 year olds.

@keyblade master lego_man It's there so when a Fad fan makes a google search he won't find stuff easily in this forum because of the censor. It's like a way to stop the spam a little since the community is massive and if the censor wasn't there, I assume there would be a heck of a lot more Minecraft Fad fans browsing in here.
I have heard that at some point, the spam about these Fad characters was so big it was unbearable to see so many terrible made rigs in the recent topics tab.

And I contributed with the idea and suggestion of the popular contributors.

If by 'on fire' you mean a burnt, dead body, then yes.

I'd rather recommend quitting Mine-Imator and moving to something that would benefit your future more like Blender, C4D or Maya.
