Rollo got a reaction from Emunator in You know, I just joined the Kerbal Space Program forums and they use IPBoard too. But
While really strict guidelines like that are good for a game like KSP with thousands of players, this community is relatively small. Not to mention animation and wallpapers take time. We need something to fill the gap, otherwise the forums would feel dead. If there were guidelines banning anything unrelated to animation it would get pretty boring in between wallpaper and animation prime times.
Plus, with such a small community it's good to have inviting guidelines. With a slow-growing community like this along with the big gap between animations, it's good that people don't have to read 6 pages of rules. They should feel like the forums are for more than just sharing your own creations. It's less of a place strictly for Mine-imator and only Mine-imator. Rather a house party hosted by Mine-imator, if that makes any sense.
It is interesting though, and I think it's worth thinking about.

You know Rollo, THAT'S the type of discussion I was hoping from this status. The activity is a good point, not even mentioning that KSP is a complicated game not really suitable for your average 9 year old who loves to watch "Top 10 funny MINEcreft aNImations COMPILATION XDDxdXd". The average member over there has a different mentality.
It's interesting how would some of those rules would apply here, if tweaked to fit the overall needs of this community.

Rollo got a reaction from willingsas in So we’re finally in a new generation of mine-imator forums it seems.
To be honest I don't like it. There's this kind of atmosphere around newer users that's just pretty toxic in my opinion. There are people who make content that is just, well, bad. And that's not inherently an issue but the real problem is that these same people tell each other that they're doing great. They give those people the mindset that what they're doing is just fine and there's no room for improvement, when that should never, ever be a mindset anyone should have. There are always ways to improve, and if we don't believe there are, no one grows. This probably isn't something many people have noticed (or cared about), and who knows, maybe I'm delusional. But there's a term over in the world of marriage counselling (I know, now I sound like a complete lunatic), "codependency", a very well-known concept of extremely dysfunctional relationships. Just a thought. Again, I'm probably just crazy.
Something I've also noticed is that a lot of the newcomers aren't really treating this like a forum. I've noticed a lot of people just feel like they have to reply with something, or that they have to make multiple status updates about this one thing. For example - I'm not going to call anyone out, but - there was a rig that was posted recently and the first reply is basically "oh, okay." That doesn't help anyone. It takes up space that could be used for constructive criticism, or even nonconstructive criticism I dunno just say something if you're going to take the time to reply. I'm probably being picky here but this seems like a nonproductive atmosphere that I don't want to come to this forum. It almost feels more like a Discord in a sense that you can come here and hang out, as long as you at least say something. You don't have to bring new conversations to the table, you just need to show that you exist. That's not necessarily a bad thing for, say, a chatroom, but this is a website built on starting new conversations. We don't care if you're present. No one will notice you if you say "oh". Your reputation is built entirely upon what new stuff you bring to the table. If you had a hundred Fad wallpapers that were exclusively two white dots on a black background, yeah people won't respect you at the time. But if you make one original, good wallpaper after that, your entire reputation will be built entirely on that new thing. We don't say "Yeah this wallpaper is good, but you made a Bendy and the Ink Machine rig a while back sooooo" (Your reputation doesn't have to be built on creations either, I was just using it as an easy example. Starting good conversations is also just as appreciated). No, that's immature and we don't do that.
Wow look how long that turned out to be. I don't even know if this atmosphere exists or not. Sorry about that.
TL;DR: We need to stop encouraging bad creations, no one will grow and criticism is always a good thing. We also need to remember that reputation is based on good presence, not just presence.

Because I find it stupid. We dont need a whole month for people to say "IM GAY." Straight people dont care at all, why should anyone in the LGBT community. In America they are far from oppressed so they dont need a whole month.

Morgan Freeman summed it up very well with his talk about black history month.
As for offending people. No I dont care if I offend someone over something like that. If you dont like it, be a coward and block me.
