@Mafa Animations yeah, I'm worried about teens then, take a look at my school, I'm one of the most mature people there... and that says something. (Seriously though, I'm the only one that pays attention in class, and the only one that does his work)

What could can one teen do, though? I understand how insanely difficult the process would be... but imagine being able to say that you made a change to your country... as if they'd ever read an application. >.<

Everybody believes they are working the best and hardest and that they are right. I originally though 12+ could be a good age, but I guess adults, the people with power would just say 'stupid puberty nope' and drown us all.

They didn't let me. Not for English, they don't let anybody accelerate in English because our tiny minds can't handle the content. I'm too effing stupid for anything else.

I'd highly suggest not using an engine, and hard-coding your game. It gives for so much possibilities. If you're going for C++ (Which you really should), try to use SDL of SFML for the graphics and sound handling.

There is no way I can hardcode this. All I need is some simple gameobjects and very basic physics, so Unity is the way to go here, for sidescrolling? 

I have never used Unity for side-scrolling, GML is my favorite for that. If you are planning on using Unity, this website may help you out http://learncs.org/
