What I think you're talking about is minimalism. If you were trying to go for that, I think you should make the items in their hands solid colors and turn their brightness all the way up as well.

Was that whole intro really necessary? It was longer than the actual animation  But that red wither did look pretty decent. The actual transformation could have been better, but it was still ok. 

Edit: Made one with a few edits, see if ya like this one better

Cmon guys this is his first rig. Stop looking down on him because you think it's simple. What ever happened to encouraging people to do better? If you're going to be negative you can at least be helpful.It's comments like these that add to the toxicity of this already toxic community.  

On topic: Good start, looking forward to what you make as you improve. But next time you should probably have custom textures instead of blocks (which you can make in image editors such as gimp/paint.net)
