BaconSandwich got a reaction from Spontaneous Explosions in Here's what I get from this whole Half Life Alyx thing: If Valve is reviving Half-lif
Same here. They better not try to go the VR route with Portal too though, I don't see any way a main-series Portal (main-series being the key phrase here; if they do this, it shouldn't just be another made-for-vr spinoff thing like The Lab) could work out well in VR without causing incredible amounts of motion sickness. You'd have to take out every momentum-based puzzle element, like Faith Plates and the gels, as well as portable floors and angled panels (flipping yourself sideways like that would probably get disorienting really easily, plus it makes it easier to f l i n g), and that would make the range of puzzles available to the devs a lot smaller and more boring, and it wouldn't feel quite as much like a true main-series Portal game. Half-Life works well in VR because it's mainly a shooter game and doesn't have the physics-bending platforming that Portal does. I've never used VR much so I could easily be totally wrong about how motion sickness works, but from my understanding at least, there's no way around it with how much Portal relies on flinging yourself through the air and how much VR relies on you staying mostly in one space. Unless we can someday find some way to simulate 100% immersion in order to combat motion sickness, I think Portal's best off staying out of VR, but I do still think that with all the other new advancements we've made since 2011, Valve could probably do some amazing things with Portal if they decided to revive it.
EDIT: I didn't see your reply since I took so long to write mine, sorry.

BaconSandwich got a reaction from Jake_28 in Oooh. Structure blocks on Bedrock can be activated with redstone(In Load mode) https:
Nope, you can activate them with redstone in Java as well. The one thing that sucks is that when you use redstone to have it save something, it only saves to RAM and not your hard drive, so that structure's lost when you exit the world. The portal thing's cool tho, GG Bedrock players

BaconSandwich got a reaction from Spontaneous Explosions in Does Java, without mods, have a way to keep chunks loaded no matter how far you are a
Well there's the /forceload command, but from the table given on its wiki page it doesn't look like it actually loads much of anything in the chunk compared to /tickingarea.

BaconSandwich reacted to Ghatos in I need animating lessons plz
I have a tip: if you're struggling with a certain movement (for example: a walking animation), make that movement in real life and see exactly how each part (arms, legs, body) have to move. This is what I do for my animation and it helps a lot.

BaconSandwich reacted to Cryptic Runner in so I'm working on an update to that really bad core model I made a little while ago,
I think he used programs such as GCFScape and VTFEdit to convert the vtf (texture files on source engine) to PNG/TGA files

BaconSandwich got a reaction from Jake_28 in How do functions work on Java? It's my understanding that you put a bunch of commands
I just got like a paragraph into explaining Java methods before realizing you meant Minecraft Java Edition, not Java itself lmao

I think it should be a thing. They're to spread awareness for oppressed groups. Minorities.

@Mineshaft Animation I think it's reasonable to do stuff like this in MI, you see some pretty good stuff here on a regular basis. Plus, those examples are pretty good. It's just that MI is easier to get into, it's still pretty comparable to other programs if you're an experienced user.
