I hope Java's data packs are someday as powerful and useful as Bedrock's behavior packs.

That's not what I was trying to do. Given the features and capabilities of java's data packs, behaviour packs are indeed more powerful.
And maybe I should have provided some evidence to back up my case that behavior packs are better.
Look at it like this:.
Java has mods
Bedrock has behavior packs.
They're very similar, although Java mods are still way more versatile, but with each update bedrock is getting closer.
Java mods have the things that behavior packs provide, and much much more, but you have to know Java to do anything with it.
Behavior packs can do many of the same things, custom blocks, mobs, items, scripting, entity AI's and some other things I forgot about.
But this is not a comparison between behavior packs and mods, it is between behavior packs and data packs.
Java's data packs are undeniably not as powerful as Java's mods, can we agree?
So my reasoning is this.
Data packs are not as powerful as Java mods.
Behavior packs the semi-equivalent of Java mods.
Therefore, Behavior packs are more powerful than Java data packs.
Also, I did not make this status with the mind set that Java sucks, and needs some bedrock features to make it good.
I was thinking there are some great features on Bedrock that I would love the play around with on Java.

@__Mine__ I was not being 'snarky'.
The problem is that words, since you cannot hear the tone of the speaker, can easily be misinterpreted in their meaning.
That's what happened.

Good grief, people.
He just said he wished for something good to come to Java Edition. He didn't say "for once" or anything that'd imply Java never had anything good to begin with. Stop reaching so far just because you feel this irrepressible need to be such damn elitists about "muh java edishun".
Besides, he's right. Add-ons have objectively more features than datapacks at this time. Sure, you can make some really impressive stuff on Java, but only if you're a command block genius. It'll never be as easy as editing a few .json files in add-ons.
Like, Bedrock lets you create custom blocks that actually integrate well into the game, that don't resemble un-shaded crap and that don't clog up your game with hundreds of entities if you want to actually build something with them. You can make new entities with their own models, sounds, animations, AIs... You can even make custom biomes with their own terrain generation rules and custom structures!
All I see is a bunch of babies getting triggered and arguing because someone dared suggesting bringing a feature from this ridiculous inferior version of the game into their precious Java Edition, even if the suggestion is actually good.
