the only reason why cod cw looks worse is due to the lack of camera shake, the animation is almost identical and equally as fantastic, there is just less snappier effects done to the camera (admittedly, the camera shake and gun bounce looks even worse in the alpha than it does in the new one)

now an HL3 would be cool in VR, but going back to flatscreen would be a better choice since not many people get the chance with vr
also probably get the chance to revolutionize things again, if that's even possible
