Penecho got a reaction from Glitch Block Studios in [WIP] [TLHINGAN] Official Klingon Translation for Mineimator 1.0.0, Demo 5!
Hey hey hey, this is A Cactus speaking!
I'm currently working on a Klingon translation. So far, I've managed to successfully translate the opening menu (New/Open) to please my Klingon overlords- I mean, Trekkies.
Here's the link, I plan on getting much more done soon.

Here it is, Version 2 of my very first rig, the Companion Cube Rig!
If you would like to use this in an animation (for whatever reason), you don't need to contact me for my permission, but just give me credit. I mean, I stay up from 11-2 each night working on these, and I want some recognition to justify my insomnia.
I would like to give a big thank you to jerkboi2001 for providing V2's textures. Thanks so much, man!

Penecho reacted to Frossa in The flaws of Mineimatorforums
While this topic is locked, I do still feel like it is necessary I express my view on the points brought up.
"You can simply just misunderstand the rules 10 times and boom. You're banned."
Not true. The moderators are very lenient on 9-pointers, having awarded several last chances to many people who otherwise would be banned. Furthermore, appeals are always there to prevent this sort of thing from happening to users, and if their 9 points happen to be to severe to all be appealed, then maybe they did deserve to be banned. You've never been at the 9-point mark or been a moderator on these forums, so I don't understand why you think you can speak for this system. We do also make sure to tell people that are close to being banned that the appeal system is in place, I don't think there's many forumers that don't know of its existence.
"Even the mods are neglecting it with Frossa saying they'll do it "some time" and even saying "too lazy""
Grossly misrepresented. If I ever deny a personal request from you (or anyone) to deal with a forum issue it's because I'm currently busy doing something else (often times when you've messaged me via Steam to do something, it's been clearly visibly indicated that I'm playing a game) and do not wish to have my attention redirected elsewhere. There are plenty of other moderators, and we've done our best to have the forums manned at all times. Make a report and be done with it, that is still the best way to alert us of anything going on.
Also, I have never stated "too lazy" as a reason for not doing my moderator duty, unless it might have been regarding an incredibly petty issue which barely required action at all.
In short, don't feel like you are eligible to criticize the system the forum staff goes by with little to no insight in how said systems function and how us moderators conduct.

Penecho got a reaction from Mike in Worst OC Cliches Ever Part 2
I decided to split this article up into two parts because it was getting to be really really long, so... yeah.
Enjoy my cynicism as I discuss overused, BUT NOT INHERENTLY EVIL, tropes.
[[Here's a sweet list by ÜberKiller of Mine-imator cliches and the such, if you'd like to read it: ]]
[[Also, a shweetio little roleplay guide by ClokMaus himself.  Both his mother and I think he's cool, so he definitely is. ]]

    OP (suggested by ClokMaus)
    *sighs so much*
OP, or powerplaying or godmodding whatever you wanna call it you hipster punks, is bad.  Do I even have to put in my two cents about this topic anymore?  Here, I'll let the wonderful enderdudevhv do it.  As he wrote in this here article:
"Godmodding: by itself, the word means any RPer that takes control over other OCs that's not his/hers, you should avoid this, mainly because all the story finishes being written by you and all other players lose the control over the OCs they created. OP: Overpowered, it's a term that describes (in this context) any OC that can't die, be killed, is too powerful, can't be defeated, can kill armies with a move, basically, invincible, I really don't know why people keep doing this OCs. Meta-Gaming: basically, your OC knows something it's not supposed to, that's all, no big explanations in here and out of all of them."
    Age (suggested by multiple)
Apparently people have a problem with nearly every OC being between 13 and 19.
I don't see how they came to that conclusion.
Yes, I understand, people choose OCs of this age because, well, most RPers here are in that age range.  It's pretty normal to do this, really.  But it can be quite bothersome when every single person is a teenager. It basically makes RPs like spring break on steroids, LSD, and superpowers. (which I would actually like to see one day as an actual thing. I have no doubt it would be beautiful.)  Try to diversify your OCs.  Make some older, like Donovan North or William Smith. Spice it up a bit.

    Limited Artifacts (suggested by RedHawk007)
I'd like to start this little blurb off by saying that yes, I admit to having had used this at one point, and I think now's a good time to put in the OP, once and for all, even though it's ALREADY IN HERE, SO PEOPLE STOP ARGUING WITH ME ABOUT THIS WHEN I SAY IT TIME AND TIME AGAIN, that these cliches are not inherently bad.  They're not all rainbows and pixie dust, but they're not the worst things in the world and they don't need to be thrown into Mt. Doom.  The reason that these are cliches is because they work as character development tools so well that everyone uses them.  My thing with these is that you should use these tropes sparingly to further your character, rather than use it as a crutch for character development.
    That being said, limited artifacts.
It's a common trend in a lot of media, not only roleplays, that there is a limited number of these super-powered artifacts.  Hell, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is doing that RIGHT NOW with their Infinity Stones.  But don't just use this because Marvel or whoever else is using this concept.  If this concept of limited artifacts works for your character or story, then fine.  Use it.  We're not going to murder you, probably.  If you don't need it in your story, though, don't just throw it in there because it works.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that use this "cliche," as well as other tropes, only when needed and not when wanted.

    Rule 63/.2 (suggested by TestSub2833)
I'm going to hope that, by this point, people know at least some of the rules of the internet, at the very least just 34 and 63.  If you don't know these, then get yourself educated you dumbo. (i'm kidding you're a really smart person no h8)  Rule 63 states that "For every male character there is a female version. No exceptions."  Rule 63.2 states that "For every female character there is a male version. No exceptions."  So, seeing as you are all presumably not drooling as your brains leak out of your noses, you can probably figure out that this blurb is about... genderswap.
Genderswap in and of itself is not bad... okay, yes it is.  I would highly recommend avoiding it unless A) you are using it as a profound allegory for the growing difficulty to understand one's self physically and sexually in an increasingly autonomous society, or B) if you are writing fanfics.  You shouldn't just throw it in there because you can.
DISCLAIMER: Pen is not any sort of authority figure at all and you do not have to listen to him, but his mother says he is cool, so he probably has some good advice.

Insanity (suggested by the dear lady Ocelot)
This one is going to be fun to write about, I just KNOW it.
As quite a few people know, I personally suffer from auditory hallucinations and delusions of grandeur.  These, combined with a cocktail of other, smaller assorted symptoms is all but condemning me as a lunatic, so this is going to be a liiiiittle more personal than some of these other ones.
People who use insanity just because they can are horrible, but people who misuse insanity are even worse... somehow.  As I've said:
It's quite common for amateurs and/or people who just don't understand mental disorders to assume that anyone with mental instabilities acts like the Joker, but... that's incorrect.  There is subtlety in madness.  Insanity is not always just shrieking and flailing about while laughing like a hyena.  Insanity is when your brain doesn't function completely properly, and this can range from the simple belief that you are made out of wood to hearing Persian voices screaming in your ear to much much more.
Do not misuse insanity, for it is quite insulting.

    Zombie Viruses (suggested by Plusle)
    Convenience.
    Convenience.
    Convenience.
Trying to come up with a good plot is hard.  Using a generic plot that we've seen countless times in television, video games, and movies is easy, which brings us to:
    ZOMBIE VIRUSES~
Someone shoot me if they've never heard of this plot at least once. Okay, now that I'm still bullet-free, I'm going to flap my gums a bit more.  This trope came about when people didn't know how to add such complicated points as, say, drama or tragedy or despair, realized that all the cool kids liked them zombies, and tried to capitalize on that hype.  There's no originality or decency to this, it's just a straight-up lack of thought or care.

Skin.EXE (suggested by The Tan James)
I'm just gonna come out and say it, I'm not really a big fan of most creepypastas.  They're often poorly written, there's no real horror... they're not worth my time.  Jack the Ripper reads like it was written by a nine-year-old.
So now we're talking about skin.EXE, obviously based off of the Sonic.EXE creepypasta, another one of those ones that I disliked.  It's not scary.  Oh no, a possessed copy of a Sonic ROM.  Spooky~
Anyway, for those of you who don't know what Sonic.EXE, it's a story about a guy who is sent a corrupted ROM file of Sonic the Hedgehog.  He can only play as Miles Prower (I've always loved that name), Knuckles, and Dr. Robotnik.  The level starts off innocently enough... until you see bloody, dead animal bodies on the ground.  Then Sonic with black eyes dripping with blood comes after you.
That's the whole thing.  I am so frightened right now.
While this idea has potential, it's way too oversaturated for what it is, and people use this for their own skins.  It's not scary, it just shows that you buy into the malarchy that is creepypasta culture.

Plagiarizing Character Content / “Nicking” (suggested by Aronan)
Oh, it feels good to be back.
All right, so I’m going to start this bit off talking about copyrights. While a major brand name won’t necessarily go to court against a kid roleplaying on a forum for making Minecraft animations, it’s still something that’s important to understand.
Basically, copyrights protect OWAs (original works of authorship), which is any tangible form that has no technical function yet is also an original piece of content from the author. This is anything from writings, music, and characters. This is a post about OCs, though, so we’ll naturally be discussing characters. I hope that was clear. The developers and publishers own the rights to certain characters; for example, characters from Nickelodeon’s The Legend of Korra are owned by Nickelodeon. They are the intellectual property of that brand.
Now let’s talk about plagiarism. Plagiarism, according to the Oxford Dictionary for Smart People, is “the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as your own.” By no stretch of the imagination, we can all agree that characters came from someone’s idea at some point in time, be it through studying past civilizations or a rather rough night in Amsterdam, for example.
Because characters are ideas and characters can also be copyrighted by brands, stealing these ideas is the same as stealing intellectual property from a brand like this. Believe it or not, this is actually illegal. Now, you probably don’t have too much to fear in that regard. No one of us is really that big of a risk to a brand’s integrity, and no one of us will, within reason, be sued for using this property. It is, however, important to note that with more public matters and more public content, plagiarism becomes more of a deal. Basically, in the legal regard, don’t use other people’s stuff so that you don’t look like an uncreative fool who uses other people’s content.
It’s also a problem creatively, though. What kind of roleplayer are you that you can’t come up with your own idea for a character and you have to steal from something else? It’s fine to take inspiration or even basic plot details from someone or something, but to completely rip a character from a previously established work and use it as your own (with or without some minor tweaks to the character that really don’t change a thing) is lazy, uninspired, and reflects poorly on you as an ORIGINAL CHARACTER creator.
I call this “nicking” for personal reasons and I suggest you do the same, as it is much easier to say than “plagiarizing.” You’re a free person, though, and I have no control over you, so call it whatever you damn well please, I suppose.

DO YOU WANT MORE OF THESE YUM YUMS? GO

Thank you for reading this article post whatever. I know it seems like I'm criticizing these OCs (because, let's face it, I am), but this is all so that both old and new roleplayers don't fall into the trap of making a bland and repetitive OC. Try shaking things up a bit and make a new kind of OC.
But please, other viewers, don't copy those OCs or I might just have to add them to this list.
    Ciao.

P.S. TL;DR? I'll sum it up for you: Originality is dead.

Penecho reacted to Mourngrim in Introduce yourself!
Hi, I'm Mourngrim, and I'm Scottish.  I'm new to all of this stuff, even though I'm really old.  I got into minecraft to help my six year old son, who is having a hard time reading and focusing on things.  From there it was a little step to try animating, after watching loads of Youtube content.  It led to my first (quite bad) animation, an adaptation of a story he came up with.  I'm currently tinkering and practicing, I might join in the odd collab here and there (I did the doors one), and will probably post in the WIP and Test areas, while I see if I can get good enough for some little projects I have in mind.

As I have the artistic talent of a broken toothbrush (which is partly why 3d is better for me), I might be asking for rig and scenery help when I feel ready to announce my plans.  I may even join or create a team if I can find some like minded people.  I've been very impressed with some of the talent on this and other minecraft related sites, from music, to programming, art, animation, sound.... lots of skill.

I will always try and give a fair comment when asked, but I won't always know what some of you younger members are talking about.  I watched the original Star Wars movies when they came out, I don't know any Pokemon, and I only play Minecraft on the Xbox.  I've also got t-shirts older than a lot of you guys.

I usually like the have actual textures for my projects but I wanted to keep the cartoony look the gun.

    Notes:
This was a lazy project and I missed some details that could make this look better because I am a bit sick and don't really feel like fixing it right now. I might fix it later (this means never).
I did get lazy and I did not add lots of detail to the actual scope and the bottom.
It has been a long time since I posted so sorry if this format does not look good.

Penecho reacted to Jar in Dunno
I'm going to be making a sort of project based around this group
So I figured I may as well introduce 'em!
First up is the human, her name is Karliah, but she prefers to be called Princess.
She's a tough leader who isn't afraid to make demands, she's also loyal and fiercely protective of her group.
There's another picture of her here.
The zombie to the left is Moroff, and the one to the right is Morthal.
Moroff and Morthal are twin brothers, and they were the first to join the group.
They aren't very smart, and quite often forget things, so Princess usually has them carry around a notebook with their instructions.
The enderman's name is Harold, Harold is rather quiet and shy, he likes staying near the zombie brothers so he can quickly get them out of trouble if needed.
The spiders name is Essy, she's the second female of the group.
She tends to be smart, sassy and even a little annoying.
Last off is Little Free, the creeper.
Little Free was the last to join the group after they found in trapped in a hole, he hasn't spoken a single word so far.
Little Free is named after Gavin Free from Rooster Teeth. C:
