Kalmar War [2K Wallpaper]

This wallpaper is based off of a war between Sweden and Denmark from 1611 to 1613 called the Kalmar War. Sweden sought a different trade route to avoid paying Denmark's Sound Toll. Denmark then invaded Southern Sweden. As England and Holland (the Netherlands) were also invested in the Baltic Sea Trade, and they were persuaded into reducing Denmark's power by ending the Kalmar War before a victory was decided. Denmark relied heavily on mercenary forces and the current King, Christian IV, who was low on funds, was finally responsive to persuasion in 1613. Later, with England's negotiation, the Treaty of Knäred was signed.

(I hope that all makes sense, although it's irrelevant).

 

I think this was the hardest wallpaper I had to make, purely because it was SO laggy; I had to build the models on separate projects and then import them, and it didn't respond for 10 minutes each time I did this.

Although I want to point out the inaccuracy of the Swedish usage of military uniforms during this time period, I'm completely overwhelmed by the fact that someone actually made a historical wallpaper.

Also, the military uniforms are based off of a Swedish Karoliner, and after rendering the image I realized the uniform was circa 1685. :/

Yeah, regular soldiers before ~1660 would probably not have looked like much more than peasants with a sword and a musket, maybe a cuirass if they were lucky.
