How to effectively report.

Hello, Today I'm going to show you how to effectively report a topic and/or User.

 

**How to Report**
First off, how to report?

On every topic and User profile, there is a report feature:
As shown below V _{(just gonna use davids profile as an example.)}

**What to put into a Report**

 

Now that reporting is underway, this is the step where most Users need help with.
What to put in a report.
 
After you click report, you get taken to an area with a small box ^{_{(Which is NOT limited, so it can be resized by the lines in the bottom right corner)}}
Before you type into that box, take a few things into consideration.

*Are they Actually breaking the rules?
*Do you have Proof?

You must have proof so the Moderators can believe you.
A simple link to where it is or an image of the incident is sufficient enough.

**Report Examples**

 

An Example report of how NOT to do it:

forumnoob2778 gave me a -1, can you give him warning point and tell himm to stop
In this example, The User specified in the report was neither breaking the rules, and the OP didn't provide proof.
As Downrepping or -1's are a forum feature, it's there to be used.
On top of that, the OP didn't even provide proof. So there is no way for the moderator to be even sure that this happened.

"forumnoob2778 said he didnt like my rig and said i should do better, can you ban him and delete his comment"

In this updated example, Forumnoob2778 reported someone for giving an opinion an his rig.

This report isn't good at all as it:

• Didn't show proof - How does a moderator even know if this even happened with proof?
• Stating giving critism isn't against the rules - Just giving an opinion

A good format for writing a report would be:

I am reporting <USER> for <Action>
He/she is breaking this rule: <RULE>
Where the rule was broken: Status/Chat/Topic
Here is a photo of him/her breaking that rule: <PHOTO>(Or if you don't have a photo, provide a link where the rule breaking is happening)

He/She was doing <Insert optional description of the event if you believe it's needed>

 (Don't forget to add proof and where it happened, EG, chat, topic)
 
I recommend that format as it explains:

*Who the user is
*The rule he/she is breaking
*The proof of him doing it

*An optional description

**What to Not put into Reports**

 

What should not be in reports;

Things that shouldn't be included in reports are external stuff, or things that happened off the forums.
If a forum user IM'd you on skype and abused you in some way, then it isn't a forum issue, as reporting is for Forum issues.
If there is abuse off the forums; Do Not bring it onto the forums or you'll be held liable for causing drama and any flame wars that occur.

**Other Useful Information**

Also, ALL reports get read. Don't get paranoid at whether a moderator has read or not yet. They read them ASAP and deal with it respectively.
