I actually just switched from a regular keyboard to a gaming keyboard during christmas. There's actually quite a difference between them. The gaming keyboard has different keys that are more sensitive.

There's a difference between a gaming keyboard, and a normal LED keyboard. LED keyboards usually just have the flashy lights and, like Patrick said, gaming keyboards usually have macros that you can bind functions to. Although I see where you come from, there are a lot of keyboards that are advertised as "gaming" keyboards that just have the lights
