  1. i agree with both statements; a bent arm would be more realistic, and his use of saturation and ssao could work but he did not provide enough context for them to work
  2. i mean, wrists in real life can twist like that, so i'd say that is excusable as for the saturation, perhaps the sky is just really red? or there's a forest fire going on, which could also explain the heavy SSAO. idk, i'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt here, but additional context might be needed to explain why his colors and contrast are so intense
  3. i don't know about that, many of my wallpapers uses a skybox that i found online, and i think they're fine. you can mask low-resolution skyboxes using neat camera tricks like DoF
  4. not bad! composition is good, along with posing. personally i feel that the lighting is too saturated to be natural, but that's my preference (tbh reminds me of Firewatch) use a skybox! basically six surfaces arranged into a cube that surrounds the scene. you can find a few textures for skyboxes online and that should give you some nice looking skies
  5. The lone Orovikan ship flew above the marshy landscape of Porrus. High Command indicated the presence of some powerful artifact within the sector, but the sensors on the gray and yellow ship were not detecting any abnormalities on the surface or beneath the terrain. The pilot sighed with impatience. As an ace pilot of the Orovikan Military Academy, he should have been assigned a more daring and adventurous task. Why should he, the prestigious fighter pilot that earned the call sign Gold Hawk, the defender of Orovika during the second VEGA - AR war, be subjected to a monotonous game of hide and seek? When he got back, he was going to turn in his letter of resignation to High Command on Virtuis. Perhaps then, out of desperation, they would give him a noteworthy assignment suitable for his expertise. Gen Bukkit, Hawk's commander, descended from the ship's top-mounted turret to address Hawk's concerns. "I know how you're feeling," he said, interrupting the constant drone of the ship's ion thrusters. "High command sends us off on another goose chase. Just like the time when we were hunting for those space whales, and all we found were a few slimy, giant eggs. Made some good ship polish, though." Hawk laughed heartily, but at the same time he reminisced of the days of glory. Days where he nearly single-handedly protected Virtuis from the VEGA and AR and maintained Orovikan neutrality. Days where he ran circles around enemy battlecruisers using only a corvette. Days when he would - A high-pitched beeping interrupted Hawk's daydreaming. The sensors picked up something, but due to Porrus's atmosphere the reading was unclear. It seemed to strengthen when the ship approached the entrance chasm below them. Porrus was dotted with entrance chasms that led to an extensive cave system below the planet's surface. The narrow crevices, dark atmosphere, and toxic plant life, however, prevented any nation from extensively mapping the "second surface," as the cave system was commonly known. "Sir," Hawk said, "there seems to be something down there, in the entrance chasm." "Very well," Bukkit replied. "Descend." Hawk maneuvered the ship into the opening of the entrance chasm. To aid the sensors, he turned on the ship's spot lights so he could visually scan for anomalies. Bukkit joined him, peering out of the ship's main cockpit. The sensors beeped with greater intensity, until the cacophonous rhythm of beeps eventually merged into one continuous tone. "Sir, what do you make of this?" Hawk inquired. "The space whale chase was pretty crazy, but even they didn't trigger the sensors this much." Bukkit opened his mouth to respond, but a violent shudder rippled throughout the ship's hull, knocking Bukkit off his feet and throwing Hawk's face into the ship's control panel. Alarm bells rang as the ship verified its own hull integrity. Hawk glanced at the plasma screens in front of him, and the ship was providing results he didn't like. "Gold Hawk!" Bukkit yelled. "Masks up!" Hawk managed to activate his Power Helmet's mask right as another explosion ruptured the hull, this time breaching the cockpit. Hawk and Bukkit were thrown out of the ship from the violent decompression, and flailed through the thick Porrusian atmosphere before landing in a field full of mushrooms. Had they not activated their masks sooner, the atmosphere would have corroded their soft tissues and they would be little more than skeletons wearing bits and pieces of Power Armor. The ship crashed onto the floor of the entrance chasm before promptly exploding, raining debris onto the poisonous mushrooms that layered the bottom of the chasm. Bukkit lay unconscious on the ground, as Hawk tried to revive him. "Gen... Gen! You gotta get up!" he grunted. A loud roar stopped Hawk from his efforts, causing him to gaze deep into the chasm. Whatever was there was probably the anomaly they were looking for, although Hawk certainly didn't want to now. This new threat... they would have to fight alone.
  6. two in one day! made my laptop go down to 1 FPS and the lighting still sucks, never again @Keep on Chucking's Volumetric Cloud Rig
  7. it probably is the edge since this was pretty close to the world border. had to lay on a lot of fog to try and get rid of it but it's noticeable if you try hard enogh
  8. oh my god it's zanril valley from like 2 years ago to be fair, chromatic abberation/distortion could work here. after all, you're looking at a disobedient robot, perhaps with a few defects in its programming. a distorted effect could be used to imply that the robot's code is corrupted and has gone rogue. of course you do kind of overdo it, but perhaps if you dial it back you can get a good effect your main focus is supposed to be the disobedient robot, but the bright light from above is taking attention away from the robot. you can remedy this by positioning the robot in accordance with the rule of thirds, or decreasing the intensity/increasing radius of the bloom so that it's not as intense while using spotlights can make your wallpapers look great, you do not need to do so to get a good wallpaper. (many of my wallpapers only use the sun, and i do believe they look good.) try experimenting with the sun height and rotation to see what looks good.

  11. remember that not all channels make content for the money. even if these policies were taken into effect, you're still going to have a few animation channels that want to create animations for the fun of it also only content targeted towards children will be demonetized so i'm sure some people will figure out how to game the system and make minecraft content for teens/adults
  12. you do define your subject well with his white clothes contrasting against the black background, so that's pretty good. while the dead character and the gun should rightfully not be the focus of the wallpaper, they are both obscured to the point where it's very hard to see both: the gun because the towel is blocking most of it from view, the dead character because it blends in with the background and is being distorted by the camera. generally you want your audience to immediately tell what's going on in the wallpaper so it's important to make sure to have a clear focus while maintaining secondary focuses that complement the wallpaper as a whole. nothing that good camera positioning can't fix, however. personally, i would move the camera to the opposite side of the scene so that the gun is more clear to see. perhaps also position the camera a little behind the dead character's head so you make the main character more imposing and powerful
  13. oh yeah, forgot to credit the skybox creator. downloadable here yeah i kinda had an idea for the posing in my head but it kind of fell flat, and i was experimenting with the new camera settings as i said idk what i was doing here
  14. yeah this wallpaper is basically me going idk what i'm doing i did want to try and use bleed light to create outlines but i think the situation of the character prevents me from doing so... ah well time to practice more skybox skibbz' facial rig
  15. creeper, AW MAN! i'd really appreciate if more constructive criticism was provided here i do like what you're trying to go for; in theory, it could work provided that it's improved. here's my suggestions instead of rendering everything all at once, render each object in your scene in one picture and composite them together in an editor. you can see this effect on a few movie covers, such as the star wars trilogies. i do think you have a bit too much orange; any color that's overused is going to make the entire wallpaper look flat. try to fit some other complimentary colors by rendering a few of your characters in another color (another reason why you should render your images separately and combine them, makes it way easier) keep in mind that your wallpaper should still have a central focus point, which should be the thing that you want your audience to look at. you can keep everything in there; just make one character/object stand out (i think the guy in the lower right would be a good focus. then you can make the knight in the background be shadowed a little so he doesn't take the spotlight away from your focus but still provides an imposing image) i don't recommend you experiment with bleed light since i feel that you should first learn how to create wallpapers with good composition. once you master that you can proceed to more advanced techniques also it's ok to follow trends; you can be original even if you do use another person's material. it just depends on how you use it. also personally it's fine if you use random memes in your wallpapers. heck, it's all in good fun and i really don't think you should be discouraged in doing so (unless it's obnoxiously intrusive, which i suspect it wasn't.) check my first sentence for proof
  16. very good, adapting this attitude is how you become better at everything. keep going at it
