Yes, all you have to do is re-texture the fire animation. It's not very effective but it's the only way I know, you could screw around with particles as well.

The problem with that is every single frame of the fire animation is one of these.

And making a rig, you would have to replace the files in MI to the custom ones if you wanted the new texture to show up.

Actually, I just thought of a way. Maybe if I apply a texture pack with a different fire texture maybe that will work. I believe that every fire texture is in one image.
