  1. For a single person to create a video of this length for their first is pretty extraordinary. You have told a story or at least created an interesting backdrop for a story. Of course the animation itself could be a lot better, and sound would make it more interesting, but the ability to follow through on such a long animation is extremely promising. (yes, anything more than a minute (excluding filler) is a big project) Keep up the good work!
  2. It's strange that it looks so correct. I would not have thought to do it that way, but the end result is very 'natural'.... no, 'appropriate'... just the kind of movement that feels right for a steve. Well done.
  3. The effect looks like steve is power walking or on an exercise machine. This isn't a bad thing, but I doubt it was what you wanted. For a more natural walk you should remove some of the bend to the arms to make him a little more relaxed. His body is twisting more than it needs to for walking and making the head too jerky while you are correcting. I am guessing that all of your keyframes are spaced at the same pace like this: ---o---o---o---o---o---o--- ---o---o---o---o---o---o--- ---o---o---o---o---o---o--- to reduce the jerk, you might make a copy of your project and just fool around with spacing on a single cycle and then copy it to see how it flows, this will help you learn a lot or you can just delete it once you get it too messed up. You can actually drag highlighted markers on the timeline. Your markers might eventually look more like this --o----o--o----o--o----o ---o---o---o---o---o---o --o--o----o--o----o--o-- Another way to change the look of motions is 'transitions' in the 'keyframes' menu. I hope I'm not sounding like a jerk, this is just stuff that will help if you haven't already figured it out. I am not an expert, as you can see by watching my practice work, so please don't hate. It looks like you worked really hard and would improve quickly with practice
  4. Yes, good! How long did it take him to do that??
  5. Really? I included a link to a youtube demo of the rig. Are you saying that I also need a pic? You guys can be pretty demanding. The link to the youtube used to automatically show the embeded player with the image, so I guess I need to do something different https://youtu.be/WS03wc01G4I There... I think that worked.
  6. Hard to believe you fit all of that into only 49 seconds. I could excuse some of the camera movement as stylistic, but others are simple choppy. I would suggest you slow down the pace only a little by working on smoother transitions from one room/or mob to the next. It would still be fast paced, but could tell a little more of a story. If you are going to make it so jumpy, it will take an insane amount of encounters to fill the time. I think panning back and forth to show your character and then the foe before killing it would allow time for the viewer to absorb better. Just don't go overboard but that doesn't seem like a risk considering your style. I think this would still be interesting spread over 2 minutes. Great work and I can tell you put a ton of effort into characters and action.
  7. I just realized that this version does not have the smoke particles that exist in the game version. I knew they needed to be there but I must have forgotten. In my defense, it was 2 in the morning when I finally finished editing the demo reel. I will upload the version with the smoke particles as soon as I have it ready.
  8. This is an end portal frame that you can turn off or on. The particles are not perfect, but very good in my opinion. I'm not entirely happy with the lighting in the demo, but I'll get it next time. https://youtu.be/WS03wc01G4I http://www.mediafire.com/download/5wckby1cnijte1d/End_Portal.object Credit to me or a link here to your work would be nice if you deceide to use it.
  9. Figured out something with particles. Building a rig for it.
  10. I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I will take it that there isn't a simple command for it. In the game, they are just motionless white particles, so I should be able to generate something like that. I guess I'll try.
  11. I couldn't find anything but portal guns rigs when I searched. Does anyone know of an easy way to create the effect?
  12. Ok, that is pretty much the same idea. I've been watching Hanna play Fallout 4 on yogscast for the past few nights, so yeah.
  13. Those are some beastly looking mobs! Very mad-max looking environment.
  14. Nice work Nick. You did good to get the light source in the center casting shadows in all directions. This could be a start to an actual animation. Put some wind into the trees, make the characters move around a little and you could create a very friendly atmosphere. Maybe even have a mob or two wandering in the background
  15. Practice is a very good thing. I have been doing quite a bit myself. First suggestion is presentation. The video clip is so short that it is difficult to evaluate. Some suggestions would be to have the player standing still for a few seconds before beginning and after the action. You might also have the same movements from a different angle or in slow motion (change the fps in the projects tab then splice the 2 clips together). Because you are only making this as practice, this repetition would not be seen as filler. I think the character should step into the first punch more. Overall, it looks like you put a lot of time into giving his actions very good coordination of movement. Good Work.
  16. I think it might be the best 'monster school' animation I have seen. Usually monster school is lazy animation and poorly written storyboard.(from what I have seen) If this was the only 'monster school' I had seen, I might have a much higher opinion of the type. You should put your talents to use on a more creative project and I think you will be able to create some things that will really impress people. Good Luck!
  17. I have just one critical suggestion that jumped out at me. When moving from chest to chest, the character used a very unnatural movement. I'm not sure exactly what should happen instead, but it could use something more fluid. Great work overall and I hope I can get that good in the near future.
  18. Very good! Lots of subtle extras and NO unnecessary filler. Interesting camera work and tells a story.
  19. Thanks, I guess I should update that profile pic. The rim is made of coal blocks, so yes, you should be able to make them wood textured instead. I am not sure how well they would mesh compared to the solid color, please let me know if it works/or doesn't. I was specifically interested in the iron portion. Did you use something outside of Mine-imator?
  20. Wow, these look great! I've been inspired! Thanks for making these available.
  21. It would be cool (for me) if you added the wheels I just made to your rig. They should size down small enough (I think) I really like the iron portion of the cannon and was wondering what you used to make it?? That could look really cool in some future animations, or even just a wallpaper being fired.
  22. I am now releasing this round wheel rig to be used by everyone in their own rigs. Easy to use and resizable. Car wheel is a little more tricky, but worth the effort. Wooden wheel requires no special textures http://www.mediafire.com/download/aczy677wmcu86nf/colorwheel.object Car tire includes chrome hubcap or you could make your own (suggested) http://www.mediafire.com/download/hdyvf5rhmhbx8dr/chrome-wheel-new.zip I'm really looking forward to seeing what you can do with this. Please credit me in one or more of the following ways if you use it: -Like or subscribe to me on youtube, -Give me credit in your video that uses it. -If you release a more complex rig using this, credit me with a link to here or my youtube channel -Post here with a link to your video or rig so others can see what this looks like in action.
  23. Ok, everyone stand back.. Wait for it...... wait for it.... boom This turned into a sweet combination of multiple particle generators and lighting. I feel really good about this one. I feel really foolish about my lack of particles in the creeper explosion and hopefully this will help you forgive me. Today I have totally avoided sounds, but hey, next time... I have the beginnings of a storyline that uses pieces of everything I have done so far. Suggestions to improve are welcome.
  24. If I owned an RV and was going fishing for more than a couple hours, I would surely take it with me. If he has a pig on the spit, then he is no doubt pulling an all nighter once his buddies show up. Looks like a lot of fun! You could also have him in a boat fishing with the camp site a little more in the background, but I think this is a very visually pleasing wallpaper with lots of interesting details. The lighting and depth of field work together nicely.
