its a thing, that when you parent a think, their X,Y,Z will "reset" into the rotation point of that object. Like the XYZ of the Parent is 0,1,0, and the object's 0,5,0 will be 0,6,0 in the object. theres no way to "fix" this, but you can move the think where it belongs.

Hard to explain.

it's a thing of relative position, if the relative position of object1 to the ground is 3,5,4, and the relative position of the object2 to the ground is 3,7,4, when you parent object2 to object1, the relative position of object2 will be relative to object1 and not the floor, it also resets to 0,0,0, as tiedemies1 said

the solution is reseting the location to 0,0,0.
