Question

I'm trying to use a video exported in the MP4 format from Mine-imator into HitFilm Express, but I get a message saying that "The video frame cannot be displayed" and I can't drag it into the timeline. Anyone know what's going on?

The video rendering settings are:

Format: MP4

Video quality: Best

Framerate: 60

This is an issue with Hitfilm (and other software too, like Sony Vegas), not Mine-imator. One possible solution is installing Apple Quicktime player, but that doesn't work for everyone and Apple Quicktime is dumb. I'd just export as something other than mp4 or ask on Hitfilm support forums, if they exist, since I haven't worked with Hitfilm much. The solution for Sony Vegas is really hacky and probably not the same as Hitfilm.

I've just asked about this on their support forums: https://fxhome.com/forum/discussion/50896/mp4-video-export-cant-be-used-with-hitfilm-express

I've previously exported the video as MOV but then HitFilm tells me to install QuickTime. But the QuickTime installation keeps failing (I'm on Windows 10 and QuickTime is unsupported software so that might be a problem) so idk.

.MOV is exclusive to QuickTime, so that would make sense. Have you tried .AVI? And I've installed QuickTime on Windows 10 before, so I'm not sure why your installation would be failing.
