I know you guys can't wait to get your hands on the next full update (neither can I!), but sadly you won't be getting it this year.
This has turned out to be a bigger project than imagined before.
For starters, this will pretty much be a completely rewrite of the program. In order for new exciting stuff like shaders, particles and customizable interface to work, pretty much all the code (~20000 lines and counting) must be redone, more or less. Also remember that this is all done by one guy, who has to balance the work with school.
Due to the scale of the update, I have decided to not call it 0.7, but 1.0.0. That's right, Mine-imator will be leaving Beta soon.
So what can you expect in the full version of Mine-imator? I'm aiming to make the program on par with some of the professional animating tools out there. To do this, the flexibility of the program and visual quality of animations must improve. To accomplish this, I upgraded the project to GM:Studio for improved graphics, and purchased the YoYoCompiler which converts the program to C++, for much more efficient CPU tasks (more info here).
This should make .schematic fans happy, since it allows much more blocks with faster loading times and rendering speed (framerate). The current Mine-imator version is embarrassingly slow at rendering blocks, and even a schematic as small as 100x100 blocks causes lag and decreases usability.
Here are my tests with the new GM:Studio+YYC, compared to the old Mine-imator 0.6.2/0.7 Demo for various schematic sizes:
100x100x32 (320000 blocks)
Old: Loading time: 45 seconds, Framerate: 95%
New: Loading time: 2 seconds, Framerate: 100%
200x200x40 (1600000 blocks)
Old: Loading time: 3 minutes, Framerate: 36%
New: Loading time: 6 seconds, Framerate: 100%
400x400x40 (6400000 blocks)
Old: -crashed-
New: Loading time: 17 seconds, Framerate: 96%-100%
500x500x25 (6250000 blocks)
Old: -crashed-
New: Loading time: 15 seconds, Framerate: 90%
500x500x50 (12500000 blocks)
Old: -crashed-
New: Loading time: 21 seconds, Framerate: 83%

This was suggested in a different form before, but mostly overlooked, so I am rephrasing the suggestion a bit to make it more clear.
Placing blocks accurately in Mine-Imator is hard.
(Grid demonstrated by the first three blocks, because I'm lazy)
This example shows how I thought of it. (Putting lines around transparent blocks like tall grass would be overkill in my opinon.)
Two options, one for enabling the grid, and one for blocks to snap to it. The last one would greatly improve how blocks are placed, because at the moment, you need to fiddle quite a bit to get blocks where you want them.
An optional thing would be to change the color/transparency of the grid.

So, a lot of people have been having a bit of a problem exporting their animation, so here's a tutorial.
(NOTE: I am running Mine-imator on Windows XP, your windows might look different but the layout of the software will be the same.)
Step 1: Start out with your finished animation. Here I have demented Darkbunny in a short .mani.
Step 2: In the upper left-hand area of the screen, there's a collection of buttons. Choose the icon of a disk with a what looks like III or a filmstrip. Or, look below.
Step 3 - READ THIS ENTIRE PART OR THE IMAGE WILL MAKE NO SENSE. After clicking Export as movie, you will be prompted to 1. Save your .mani file and 2. Save your .avi file. Keep in mind that if your .avi file has the same name as your .mani file, the exported file will be found in the same folder as your .mani.
After these prompts, you will receive this screen. Click OK.
Step 4: As the previous screen stated, do not click any options marked 'Uncompressed'. This will 1. render every frame, making the file massive and 2. Make the file incompatible. With anything.
I'd recommend Microsoft Video 1 as the codec, which is what I use.
Please READ THIS NEXT PART AS WELL. Clicking OK will result in another message box. Please, heed the message box's words. They are good. While rendering, do not, I repeat, do NOT exit Mine-imator, minimize Mine-imator, etc. Make sure that your computer will not go on Standby mode while rendering, as this will crash Mine-imator. Exiting/minimizing/going on standby will result in your animation looking like demented Darkbunny.
(you can, however, get out of your chair and do something else while it's rendering. This isn't the Ring.)
Aaaand that's pretty much it. There is another factor in this, though - Tempo. Check out Zuexs' post for more information.

Also, GM Studio Master Collection cost 500 dollars. It's a bit ridiculous to give it away for rep, if you don't mind me saying.
Also, does rep matter? I like to look at it as a way of showing how helpful/supportive/positive things you are on the forums, not as a sort of competition or currency.
