Custom Character Models

In the "Meet the pyro" Minecraft animation, it gets to the point where the pyro is is a candy filled land with balloon animals and baby versions of the different characters. BUT how do you make the custom characters like the baby and balloon animal?

 

I want to make a bird like entity that I can use.

 

DO you guys know of a program that can let me do this?
 

If you do where can I find it?

 

And no, not talking about make Rigs and moving them ETC, ETC. I mean an actual CHARACTER, like a Zombie.

You can't, there used to be in 0.6.2, but then got removed, since no one used them, you cannot make custom chars. you can only make rigs that don't have facial movements (eyes, mouth)...
