legal conserns about paying for mineimator (resolved)

Recommended Posts

(The Glorious David i'm not sure you knew of the EULA update news which is partially why im making this forum post)

First off i can understand why The Glorious David wants to have a payed version of mineimator. I would pay for it my self if I could just to support the mineimator project. But there are some problems with paying for mineimator that can get The Glorious David into trouble with mojang considering their soon to be in stone EULA update, where they will be enforcing stricter rules on what can and can not be sold on servers or on minecraft in general. This EULA states that parts of minecraft that belong to mojang (like tools textures and extra features which are already in the game) can not be sold and could violate mojangs up coming EULA change. The Glorious David will be providing a more visually impressive version of mineimator with better shaders and textures, similar to recent minecraft builds of minecraft and more settings to mess with. Again i see why The Glorious David is doing this and i don't have a huge problem with it but i have a gut feeling that mojang may not feel the same way. I think a better approach would be to reach out to people on youtube to showcase updated versions of mineimator and maybe ask for a few helping hands to make production of mineimator more efficient. Mojang is still ok with server creators and mod makers using ad revenue as a way of profiting off their hard work but selling content that is not cosmetic may get on their nerves and possibly result in halting the production of mineimator. I love mineimator. i see it becoming a great tool down the road, but if The Glorious David isn't careful and decides to only give the full version to donaters instead of asking for a helping hand from the modding and YouTube communities it may result in mojang shutting down these forums as well as the production of mineimator. The Glorious David if you see this post please don't take any personal offense i'm really looking forward to the new update but i think you may want to take a different approach for financially supporting your self and the production of mineimator.

another option would be to make mineimator free but offer donaters access to the model creator that one of the members thought of a while back  since as far as i know it can be considered completely cosmetic. and might not violate the EULA mojang will be putting into place soon. ( you may want to double check that though)

here is a link to the updated EULA mojang will be placing soon ( i know it says it affects servers but alot of these enforcement' could apply to mineimator as well) :

im going to to say one more time. i don't have any beef with The Glorious David of the consept of mineimator im jus't trying to do my best to prevent any unwanted conflicts. please do not take this as an attack towards The Glorious David or mineimator i want the production of mineimator to continue. but i think it should be done honestly

EDIT: my concern for mineimator has faded. alot of you guys have helped clear some things up. im sorry if this post annoyed any of you. i would delete if i knew how.

Your not paying for it, your donating. This is why Davve said you can choose to pay $0 and still upgrade to Pro version. I'll put it as a speech:

"Hey you, yes you! Here is Mine-imator Pro, you can also donate if you want"

Davíd firmly stated that Mine-imator will never be paid for. Donations are accepted though. I know, I've heard all of the rumors but, if The Glorious David states Mine-imator won't be paid for, it won't.

i hope you guys are right. even though david did say you could donate $0 and still get the pro version, im still slightly conserned. but if you guys know completely for sure that this is fine with mojang. i suppose i could do my best to trust your words.

Your just doin this so you dont need to pay ei? *suspicion meter %99*

not true. i just had some worries about mineimator possibly brakeing the new EULA. i have explained 3 times in the post that i have no problems with having to donate a little to get the pro version( infact i just droped $.50 and had less then $1.00 on me yes its not much but its the best i could do atm) . i just worried there still might be some kind of legal problem. i would donate more if i could afford to. but it seems i was incorrect about some things. and maybe it won't be as big of a problem as i first thought.

If david would make Mine-Imator a paid service it would break the Minecraft end user license agreement, if he/or anyone else breaks the terms they could be forbidden to play minecraft or use it at all.  I know everyone here probably just skips over the terms when they pop up, but they are very important and need to be read.

yeah,yeah,yeah.

I really suggest you read it, https://account.mojang.com/documents/minecraft_eula
