In order to get smooth bending, do the following:
 

- Go to Project properties
- Open the Render Settings dropdown
- Choose the "Custom" preset
- Scroll down until you find "Models and Scenery"
- Under "Limb bending Style" click "Realistic"

That should solve your problem!
