Changing skins through keyframes?

I'm making an animation where the characters skins change but is there any way I can change there skins in a keyframe or do I have to have 3 different characters that swap places?

1: Make a keyframe

2. In the tab "Frame X for Name", click on the arrow to the left of "texture"

3. Click on the dropdown box

4. Select skin

If you need to add a skin, go to the resources tab and import a skin
