Think of it as if you just saw the status without any context, no into topic, nothing. You wouldn't downvote it then. You'd just pass it off. Don't base your voting opinions off of previous experiences with that person.

You don't have to care about negative comments. Try your very best to stay positive about your animating career.
There will always be someone who dislikes your work. You can always try your best to ignore those people. 
I like your your work. I find them interesting to look at. I'm not a hater. 
There's always someone who likes and someone who dislikes. Whoever down voted your status update is a hater. You'll just have to live with it and move on.  
I've been through the same thing. I moved on eventually. They didn't get to stop me from what I like to do. It's up to you to decide whether or not you will continue to animate.
