Timeline / keyframe spacing with alt left click

In many applications that use key framing, if one holds alt and then left click and drag along the time line one can uniformly  condense or expand the key frame in the timeline.

 

example:

 

 

lets say we have a key frame every 10 frames

 

|..........|..........|..........|

 

If we selected all the key frames and alt- left click and pull to the right..

 

|...............|...............|...............|

we could drag all key frames to expand evenly to 1 key frame every 15 frames thus slowing the animation

 

or inversely If we selected all the key frames and alt left click and pull to the left...

 

|.....|.....|.....|

we could compact the key frames to 1 every 5 frames thus speeding up the animation.

 

I know we can use tempo to affect specific areas in an animation, but this would provide a visual way to do it.
