can you use rigs on any skin???

I see a bunch of people requesting specific rigs for their skins....cant you just make a spare skin with the eyes and mouth (if you have one) covered in the skin color, bring up the rig, then change the rig skin to that skin? or does that not work for some reason?

Not all skins have the same placement of functioning parts such as eyes and mouth.
