There are 2 other render options you can picking in the settings tab (the wrench) try both of those.

Deactivate windows aero ( the tabs transparency) in the windows themes and put the windows 7 basic theme and run mine-imator, worked for me

I have letters and coding all over my screen when i click on an object to edit with.
