The C96, designed by Paul Mauser in the obvious year of 1896, was an incredibly versatile and advanced pistol design ahead of its time. It is one of the most iconic semi-auto pistols ever made, mainly due to how far it had spread from its country of origin, the German Empire. It would see use all over the world from several different countries: Europe (Germany, Spain, Britain, Russia, Austria, Ottoman Empire if included) Asia (China) North and South America (United States, and several Latin-American countries along with Brazil) This was a pistol that was universally sought after, and had great success up until the Second World War, often equipped with a 10-round clip-fed internal box magazine. Images: Although users had some complaints of this gun (snappy recoil, odd weight balance, uncomfortable grip), this gun's overwhelming success cannot be ignored. It would also be heavily modifiable, boasting a common butt-stock attachment (which doubled as a holster), several caliber conversions, and even a full-auto variant (M712 Schnellfeuer).
