Importing worlds

I am not completely new here, but I am a beginner. 

I am trying to import a Minecraft World of mine.  It says either that the file is corrupted or that it doesn't support the version that I am on. I do have the Java edition installed on my computer. 

Is there another programme that I need so that it can be compatible with Mine-imator?

What version should I be on to make it compatible?

Moreover, if you want to import a newer world of yours, you might want check this too:

Look in Preferences > PROGRAM

It tells you what Minecraft version the program uses.

Then you just install that Minecraft version and you’ll be able to import the scenery.
