I hole hardly agree with you on this one. I guess the only chances to detect it lie in either smell, sound (if you can hear heartbeat anomylies) or energy few (like indivduals what can see flow of mana in fantasy stories and such). Or if you can examen the cell struckture of it, however all of these you would need to do without it either noticing or coming close.
