How I can change parents in MineImator in current moment?

Question

I am new to Mine Imator and I will most likely formulate my question incorrectly so it will be easier for me to give an example:

In Mine Imator there is a wonderful function of parents (it would be strange if it did not exist), which greatly facilitates the work with weapons.

Let's say I have a character and he has a left sword in his hand. I don't need to move the sword every time, because the program will do it for me.

But at some point in the animation, the character's sword should be knocked out of his hand. It sticks into the ground and just be like these for some time. But if I start moving the character's hand, to which the sword is tied, then the sword stuck in the ground will start moving.

Is there a way that at a certain moment the binding of the sword to the hand disappears and it stops moving along with the hand?
