Change the color of the head throught a folder while it moves

So imagine I want to have the head of a character shake, so I animate the "Head" timeline to shake, and while it shakes I want a nice and smooth transition in the color so it turns red, for this I want to use a folder so I have control of it with a separate timeline for the color keyframes, the problem is when I make a folder out of a Head the folder keyframes do nothing, I cannot change the color, brightness or anything, the folder is just useless. I've double checked "Inherit colors" etc options.. it doesn't seem to be working. How can I get this done??

By changing the color of the head.

There are options on the head on the right side, you have to click on the certain things you want the folder to affect/change.

There are two methods.

Parent a head to the head, the make the first head 100% invisible, and use the invisible one for rotation etc. And the one you can see for color.

Or you do what ethan said and stop making things super complicated for no reason.

Make the head invisible, put another head, parent it to the character, adjust the position correctly and make folders.
