I was messing around with particles and made this, so I thought I would add a throwing anim to it.

The particles are very big. Maybe you could decrease the size and increase the number of particles.

I knew that much, I've done particle effects many times before. I just couldn't really tell what effect you were going for. If it's sort of an "arcane aura" kind of thing, I would suggest having the particles start out white and VERY quickly changing to red or orange. Also, I agree with Redwoods, they should be smaller and I think the spawn region should also be smaller. I've done something very similar to this before as a request for someone on Hypixel, here's a .gif of it:
