I believe there's a checkbox somewhere, but it also breaks other things, like y-axis bending.

There is no way to get the old bending back, if you mean the sharp bending.

You can go to settings and use the texture pinching checkbox, but all it does is give you a low quality round bending.

tand in MB you can set bending size to 1. and it's the closest you can get.
