The double parent

so i've got this request to make a multiple parenting so that steve can hold the sword on the left THEN on the right

yep.

The overall timeline would be chaotic and hard to keep track of with object timelines flying from parent to parent during playback. Alternatively, you can duplicate the desired object(s) and turn the visibility on/off for each when needed.

There are no current plans to add keyframable parents.

Place the sword in a folder, and parent the left to the folder and parent the right to the folder.

 

I have no idea it that would work.

If that does become a thing, you could do some fun things with that, and it would save a lot of time making the objects visible/invisible throughout the animation. Hope it happens

It would work! CodyBI uses this same method for gun animations
