The effect is nice, but it doesnt really suit renders imo,

 

But try editing the entire Minecraft texture file with the depth thingy you're using in Paint.NET (I forgot the name) and apply the textures directly into Mine-imator

 

That'd probably give some nice results

That's actually an alright idea, I'll give it a go at some point.
