UPDATED! [Sticky Template!] Alex ~ Steve

Hi! It's been a while since I posted a topic, but guess what, I'm back with another rig!

An update to my old template.

For those who are looking for something simple yet effective. Here you have a list of the changes since my last template (and some other features):

• + 3D facials.
• + Organized timeline.
• + Simetrical use of eyebrows.
• + Easier to use.
• + Easier to retexture.
• + Compatibility with more skins, you don't have to edit too much to make it fit.
• + Female template.
• + Fingers!
• - Removed wrists. It's something that takes up skin compatibility and it's not used too much.

TUTORIALS:

HOW TO RETEXTURE:

Now of course, you'll have to edit your desired skin to make it fit the template. For that, you first need to open up your image editor and focus on the face of your desired skin and delete the following pixels:

Got it? Alright, cool. Now this alone won't do, you'll have to clean it's face or else you'll get some sweet clipping. Most likely, the face of your skin will have irregular textures, so you must choose a general color that fits the whole face, and paint the following area with only the color you have chosen:

You'll do the same for his hands, you'll choose a general color and clean the following area to avoid Z-Fighting with the fingers:

And it's done! The unfitting green it's only to represent the area you must paint, mind you. Now this alone works for the Male Template, you must follow the same steps for the Female Template but for that one there is 1 more step. 

For the Female, first, focus on it's body and delete the following pixels:

You must leave that and later on, when you put the skin on the file you recolor the thing.

Now for a reference, this is what the male and female skins should look on a 3D view:

I use http://www.minecraftskins.com/skin-editor/ for these visualizations :-)

(Note that the skins were slightly more edited, but that's just for adding some other details when rigging, just focus on the steps, you don't need that. It's up to you.)

Alright, you have your skin done with the editing, you're free to go and put it on the project file. To retexture, you'll find these folders in their respective templates. You'll recolor directly from them:

Female template:

• (recolor) x2
• [Mouth]
• [Upper controls]
• (Eyes)
• (Eyebrows)
• Hand x2

Male template:

• [Mouth]
• [Upper controls]
• (Eyes)
• (Eyebrows)
• Hand x2

 

HOW TO USE:

Like I said, It's prett easy to use, so you should get it right the first time. 

So let's start. For the mouth, you'll have the lips and the cheeks, which are both used with the scaling option of a folder that contains them. For moving the cheeks, use the X scaling, and for the up and down lips you use the Y scaling. This last one depends on if you have the "Z is up" option on. In my case I have it off.

For the teeth it's the same, they're in a folder and are used with the scaling option of a folder. Y scaling is what you use (you know already, this depends).

The eyes are controled with the position of a folder, which means you move both of them at the same time, so you keep them at the same distance and prevents your character from looking weird. You can also get a derpy look if you use the X scaling, but remember to disable "inherit scale" if you use it.

The eyebrows are easy, I don't need to explain it to you.

All these steps apply with the female template.

I've got 8 GB of ram, yeah, I forgot to mention that it may variate. It should still be pretty optimized on any computer compared to other rigs, nonetheless.

not 10o% sure if this right...

Well not sure because there are other things you need  to consider... like the amount of ram you asigned for the program, graphics card etc. I'm not a proffesional tho

i see all of the template and i see 24 template
