  1. Ether: Adventure Beyond 1916; an era of new technology and discovery around the world. While the Great War continues to devastate people from every corner of the earth, in the background there’s groups of explorers as far and wide as the eye can see, from all countries; trying to make a living exploring places that no man has seen yet. You probably forgot, but a fellow by the name of Scott Fellman, great visionary, you meet ‘em at the local bar; he invited you to an expedition. He was probably inspired a bit too much by alcohol, but the vision of going around the world seems grand. Will you accept his invitation or go work at the factory for dirt-poor salaries? Rules -The roleplay takes place in 1916, consider creating a character that fits in this time period. -You can only create two characters, and you can only create a new character if Scott is explicitly inviting new people, or if a new humanoid specie is found. -If a character dies, that’s it. Said character cannot be brought back to life. -Friendly firing is possible, but strongly disadviced; if you kill someone and there’s enough evidence to support it, you can be shot and killed without penalty. Fill-in-Form Name: Age: Gender: Equipment: Appearance:
  2. THE TRANSFORMATION Hunters needed There is a select group of people in this world that have the ability to turn into an animal (of your choosing but only one. It doesn't matter if it's real or extinct or whatever), but only once a day (in rp time) Plot Recently though, hunters have been looking for these creatures to kill them, because they have some sort of magic in them these hunters want (yeah we thought it was just our DNA or something). As more of the shapeshifters die, the hunters become more common. Assuming you've already read the "Absolutely do not do" page on the Mine-Imator Forums RP wikia, here are some things to do and not do in reverse order. No-no's -Intense romance. Like, we get it you're in love. Having deep long pages of "he puts his hands on her waist" makes it really awkward. -Romance. Not at all. -Having overpowered animal forms. -having horrible intense backstories if they don't have to do with hunters Totally Chill With -One (1, i, uno, 壱, singular, 2 less than 3, |-1|, y=x/10-1 when x=20 ) special power other than your animal. (Be sure to include in your form if you have one) -Extreme fights will blood and gore and death and stuff -Having an animal that isn't real (dragons, werewolves, etc.) -Having animals that aren't in minecraft (bears, zebra, etc.) -Alliances -Capturing slaves -Retaliations -Duels -Explosions If you want to join, Name: Gender/Sex: Personality: Animal or Hunter: If animal, what animal:
  3. Hello everyone! To those that do not know, yesterday I launched a Wikia, named Mine-Imator RolePlay Wiki. It is free to use, and you just need to sign up to post on it. This is going to be used for those that do a lot of RPing, as you can go on my new wiki, and post bios of your OCs. Here is the link.
  4. Hello peepz Voice actors needed Now the reason im putting this on Mine-imator is because this is specifically for minecraft players. I could make an account on minecraft forums but there is no need when i have you peepz :] you can either comment on this post or my older post and my old post is for more details as well even if you dont wanna just voice act there are more options on the old post Thanks For Your Time :] also... someone made a point in the comments [keep on chuckling]read the old post and you'll figure it out any voice is needed deep or not it will still fit in what im doing perfectly :] ----->Old Post/More <-----
  5. Hello. Lots of you don't know me, but I'm a really old roleplayer. Either way, this RP focuses on Mancer City, a city full of mancers, (full list below) Pyromancers (fire), Aquamancers (water) Terramancers (earch) Aeromancers (air-All dead, cannot RP as this) Musmancers (Extreme strength) Accemancers (Extreme speed) Magimancers (magic) All races live in Mancer City, a hypermassive, Walled-off city. Each group of mancers have their own walled-off wedge. Meaning Pyromancers life in one wedge, but aquamancers live in another wedge. The only way to travel inbetween the wedges is through massive checkpoints, full of armed guards, main battle tanks, and ability neutralizers (which prevents a mancer from using their ability close to the checkpoint). Humans, however, may pick any wedge. They must stay there. Travel in between the wedges are for emergencies and business only. Application format: Character Name: (first and last) Character Race: Weaponry: (may only have two) Looks: (picture or description. If you give a description, only give information a person can gather from looking at your character.) Thats it! Try to keep your characters human or mancers. Naturally, there are always exceptions, so if you have a non-human non-mancer character, go ahead and apply. Normal RP rules apply, and if you are pulling some stuff like that, I will tell you to change it. Meaning, you character CAN die. They CAN be injured. To prove you read this, type the words "Jar of Dirt" somewhere in your application, for it to be accepted. Neither your character nor my character are "main characters". Do not act as if they are.
  6. From the psychopath that brought you RPG, comes another Tolkien esc fantasy setting RP! Backstory (Refinement and Editing by BOOMmaker) You are a glimmer of hope. A hero of sorts, but you lack a following. You, and your companions need to prove yourselves heroes worthy of a rebellion. Races: Human - Common all around the world, with an expansionist attitude, and a need to catch up with the older races. Orc - A reclusive, brutal people. Usually stick to their own towns and people, but the adventurous leave their homes to become sellswords and mercenaries. Dwarf - Hardy, Tough and heavy drinkers. The other races of the world tend to speak of the Dwarves they meet rather fondly, as they are a charismatic people, but they possess an aptitude for smithing. Forest Elf - A rare sight outside the forested kingdoms of their own. More reclusive than even the orcs, but with an unmatched talent with the bow. Some say it was them who invented the device. They're certainly old enough. High Elves - Magically adept people, tall and proud. They possess an aptitude for the finer arts of life, and take a very haughty behavior because of it. Classes: Gladiator - A soldier through and through, wielding melee weapons and brandishing the heaviest of armors. (All races) Wizard - A magic user, wielding the immense powers of the arcane and wearing light enchanted robes. (All races but Orcs and Forest Elves) Cleric - Advocates of the light, using the powers of the gods to smite the unholy (Humans and High elves only) Paladin - A true hybrid between the Cleric and Gladiator, wielding a short sword in one hand and the powers of light in the other, heavy armor is the natural choice. (Humans and High elves only) Druid - A champion of nature, wielding a staff that commands the very wildlife that surrounds them. Druids are bound by honor, and must always wear humble robes, often appearing to be poor. (Forest Elves and Dwarves only) Ranger - Hunters by nature, and usually keep an animal companion close by. Reclusive people usually, and though they hunt, they have a great respect for nature and it's creatures. (Forest Elves and Orcs only) FORM: Name: Gender: Race: Class: Appearance: NOTE: You MUST wait to be accepted. EXTRA NOTE: I will be actively be RP'ing the Dark Sovereign myself once things become more apparent to him. Be aware, the dark lords son can be very well informed. MY FORM: Name: Elrindir Gender: Male Race: Forest Elf Class: Druid Appearance: Slim and slightly short (commonplace for his kind), wearing a dark green robe that gets slightly brown at the top, and it makes a V-neck kind of shape, due to decay. His hair is black and long, he also has a short topknot. He has slim, green eyes. His face is gaunt, but he has pronounced cheekbones.
  7. DJDJ

    Plus Four

Recently, X-Series Laboratories and their primary patron, Xia, have unveiled a new android model! To be the first used in mass production after Fantshia's Great War, the ceremony is taking place today! However, a few stray faults have been found around the place, and black market activity has been at an all-time. Something is afoot in the underground, but in the meantime, you've been invited. FORM: Name: Age: Gender Race: Abilities: Personality: Tools / Weapons: Backstory: Blood Type: Birthday: Social Security Number: (Okay, fine, I'm teasing for the last 3) We'll start right away when a few people join! And no OP, everyone!

  9. Hey guys, Ocelot here! With a pretty bad RP idea, but I'm sure it can be built on. Recently, an outbreak of criminal activities had swept the city. Civillians injured, shops are being robbed, and worst of all - people are getting Murdered. Culprits are claiming that 'it was all a dream' or 'Not their fault,' leading speculation to believe that some sort of conspiracy is going on - the police will take none of this. The police are wrong, however, there is something out there, controlling people - but only as they sleep. You (your character) wakes up in a small room, along with a weapon and a dead body. They slowly figure out that they killed this person, but cannot remember doing it. Now they're on the run, and they must prove that the theory is right, that they're innocent - but on the other hand, they must figure out who's exploiting the theory and using it as an excuse. Sound good? Sorry if it's not very clear, but hopefully you get the idea. Don't wait for me to start, jump right in! You know the rules. Name: Race: (nothing that wouldn't fit the story) Age (optional): Appearance: Personality: Powers (optional): Weapons/possessions: Narrative roleplayers and normal roleplayers alike are welcome. I reserve the right to kick OC's that are too OP/not taking it seriously. =3
  10. Maria is the wife of my other OC, Edward. Whit or Whitout glasses (change Alpha on glasses to make them appear or disappear. Also Includes completely functional facial features.) Arm details And of course a fancy belt. Don't forget to , it helps me alot. Also helps me keep my happy face working.
  11. Meet: Maria, Edwards wife. Updating and adding better visuals.
  12. No, don't ask me directly, ask my limited amount of OC's Velken -Elf assassin, checkered past, Sightly Sadistic Kructek -Orc Warrior, Anger issues, Loves honourable battle Gidwin -Dwarf paladin, Sense of Humour, Competent Healer Asphyx -Insane human, Murders because She's bored with everything and needs a rush PROCTURA SQUAD OC'S (Republic Commandos) (All have chosen nicknames in Mando'a) Hettir (Mandalorian for Burn) - Demolitions expert, Smug and loves to make things go boom, with any sort of provocation as an excuse Mirshe (Mandalorian for Brain) - Technician, Calm, Serious, Smartest of the group, loyal most to his Squad Mates, and the Republic second. Burk'yc (Mandalorian for Dangerous) - Sniper, Dark sense of humour, Has a bitter hatred of droids for the amount of clones, his brothers that they've killed. Naast (Mandalorian for Destroyer) - Squad leader, partial to large repeating blasters, will hold the line for his Squad Mates no matter what and usually takes the lead, high sense of loyalty, to both the Republic and his Squad, High respect for the Mando'ade NOTE, SAY @(OC'S NAME HERE)
  13. Decided to make an RP based on Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us". So yeah. Also, just a note. Shah will be managing this with me. Storyline: Rules: Form: Example Form: Aaand start the RP!
  14. After a bit of stopping evil, even the greatest heroes need a break. Luckily, YOU have been sent an odd message through the mail, an invitation to Fantshia, for a neat and relaxing holiday. Politics may become awry, but hey, no big deal? You know the form drill: Name, Age, Personality, Abilities, etc.
  15. Hey guys, Ocelot here! If you haven't figured it out, it's pretty simple: Fight for survival. Sorta like the hunger games, without the hunger. Or the games. The aim of the RP is to take control and be the last one standing. Maim, torture, threaten, play the nice guy, help, hide - whatever you want to do, just survive the oncoming waves of threats and inter-OC hostility. Imagine this as a sort of sandbox area where you can develop backstories and personalities, test out powers, etc. There are no rules, really, but you must get PTK (permission to kill) if you want to flat-out kill someone, fill in some sort of a form, and listen to what I tell you to. Have fun! No OP, please, or at least have backlash on the OP. As I said, there's no form, but please provide some info about your character before you join.
  16. Before we begin. Rules In this world of demented lunatics and fedora wearing nice guys there is a man the stereotypical G-Man yet this story isn't a Scott Pilgrim movie. In a simulation of the forests Many innocent and not so innocent people were taken from their homes by an underground organization to test what trapping the minds of multiple humanoid and human-like species will have as an outcome... We the OC's will live in this generated world. No sides and your allowed one weapon of choice Sadly they have confiscated the overpowered weapons we know of by using the simulation data to tap into the cerebrum and cerebellum and remove any knowledge and trace of that weapon you know The world and it's fate lays in the hands to end this as more and more people are abducted by the day I Jack have been a victim the Nephilim genes within me seem to have been limited. Demon or Angel this place is a prison It'll take more than me to end it. Join me or enter for the sake of chaos if you will. This is Simulation X Form Name: Species Age/(Range)((For the mystery person)): Appearance: Abilities: Weaponry: Starting location: (Wasteland, Jungle, Desert, Broken City) This is my second RP yet I hope this one does better since we know how it works before hand and I'm just as vulnerable as you Name: Jack Species: Nephilim Range: Teenager (Go ahead. Cliché right? Jack is my go-to OC he's a teen) Appearance: Relatively average in height. One red eye and the other is covered by an eye patch Abilities: Angelic & Demonic Dodge (Look it up on my role-play wiki page it'll make more sense ,-,) Weaponry: Yamato (Angelic Katana. Sadly unable to do Conjuration to avoid it being Overpowered) Location: Broken City Also I'd like atleast 3 participants. Edit: I'm guessing instead of having absolute free...I mean chaos. I should establish the rules first See Above
  17. Your OC's wash up on an empty, deserted island, (against all odds) after majorally losing a fight. They can't remember what happened. The water seems to hurt, and everything put into it sinks. That's about it. Have fun escaping! No form required, just state a bit about your character and jump in! (See that pun? They're on an island, in the ocean, jump... nevermind)
  18. And now, Mr. Evil himself. "BOO." "Muertos", The Accursed One Gender: Male (?) Age: Who knows Weapons of Choice: Mind Tricks, Black Spikes, Black Holes, Fear Abilities: Mind Control, Shadow Manipulation, Creation of portals and black holes, Levitation Personality: Snide, Evil, Sadistic, Cynical, Maniacal, Insane, Humorous Known only as The Demon Lord, or just Muertos, he has plagued the world for countless centuries. He began the same time as Earth, but he didn't hold much power there. He was only a leftover antimatter speck, really. He was restricted to occasionally manipulating people, as well as causing fear. It seemed he would stay that way, until the humans made the trek to Fantshia. Along with their other ideals, he moved with them. However, due to an inexplicable magic, he grew in power. And grew. And grew. He became a massive threat, and early on in their history, he made his move. He conjured up and gave life to their other nightmares, and attacked the towns, in an effort to destroy it all: his only purpose. Luckily, Merdiviale's magical springs also brought up the greatest heroes and heroines as well, giving them their own traits. Such was the case with one place he passed by, named The Mistress Elve's Grove. Muertos, as usual, wrecked havoc on the place, spreading fear, destruction, fire, and his minions all over it. But halfway through his invasion, someone stepped up to stop him. A young lady, recent newlywed, and practitioner of magic as a hermit by the name of Aniarel, exactly. She was easily the most powerful witch in the land, and she kept away all the evil. This was the first real threat Muertos had found along his journey, and his swarm came down on her. Ani easily destroyed his entire force. Screeching with anger, Muertos himself came down to kill her. They battled for a time, but in the end, Ani subdued him. Right before she banished him back into his black space, he placed a curse upon her, that if he was to be outcast from the land that was rightly his, she would tread nowhere that she, hers, anymore. Ani collapsed right after her spell, and woke up, looking, acting, and being totally different. She remembered almost nothing until she touched her old staff, but without fail, come sunrise, she reset again, her old curse. To this day, now both of them always seek each other out in an effort to reverse their misfortunes. Put in the comments who I should do next!
  19. Now it's time for something stupid. YOU are in a desolate castle's battlements, and for reasons, you have come to journey for treasure. You, however, have somehow accrued a curse by fate, and are cursed with terrible luck. Dungeons and Dragons. NOTE: Bring 2 Dice to this RP IRL! RULES: Whenever you go, roll your two dice IRL. Higher the roll, more things go your way. Lesser rolls, well, y'know. Only apply to YOUR actions or self, btw. You MUST be honest. If you constantly get suspicious rolls, we may kick you out. Before you go, post your dice roll # in parenthesis, for reference. ( ) Don't hesitate to make your fails excruciatingly bad or hilariously horrible. FORM: Name: Race: gender: Age: Powers: Weapons: Appearance: Personality: Enjoy, and worst of luck to you all!
  20. Alright, another RP, but I plan for this one to end a bit differently. The rules are a lot more stricter, but for a great reason later on... You have been invited to a tournament for your spectacular skills in combat! You will be battling against other such opponents, and go on to glory, and a prize later... RULES: Try not to OP, but you may if your opponents are. You are fighting on a (guess what) 10 meter long circular platform made of heavy stone, on top of a tall sturdy stone pillar. It has 4 metallic statues on the sides, so use them to your advantage. You may use 3 OCs total for this, but battles are 1v1, UNLESS they are using a special helper that is bound to them, or something similar. IE. You couldn't have Xia + Vecktor, but maybe Link + Navi. Or psychic twins, idk. Later there may be team battles. You will battle to KO, or death if necessary. IF ONE OF THE CHARACTERS IS IMMORTAL OR OF SIMILAR STRENGTH, to beat them, you must either trap, capture, or force them into their weakest possible form (such as just a magical wisp) You also win if your OC gets them to submit, and talking for reasons is allowed and recommended at points. If you can, try to use OCs that are already established. 3 weapons per character max. It wouldn't be fair to OCs like Matt anyways, he almost cried when I said he could only bring 3. Because unlimited is a little OP. Big shocker: The fights, as long as they go normally (IE no RP bombing) will be animated!!! That's right! Even YOU can be a star with it! If your OC has no skin, I will make one, and make the fight an animation eventually! Thanks for your time, good luck, The Observer is referee for the matches, and FORM: Name: Age: Species: Weapons: Abilities: Gender: Appearence: Backstory?:
  21. Hi, everyone! I'm a big fan of the Percy Jackson series (and Rick Riordan's other mythology series), and I wanted to make an RP of it! **Narrator will tell the time/setting/situation that is going on. My character: Name: Tiffany Bourdella Age: 14 Godly parent: You'll find out soon enough... Lives in: Dallas, TX Any experience with magic/weird stuff?: No, at least not yet... Hair color: Brunette w/ streaks of strawberry blonde Eye color: Brown Personality: Intelligent, pretty, avid reader, brave, caring, loyal Brother/sister: Harry (Brother... I'll need someone to play him) If you want to join, send me a PM with your character info (with the same categories as mine) and I'll decide whether or not you get to join! (I may not get back to you ASAP bc of the excessive amount of stuff I have going on right now, but I'll try as hard as I can!) Rules: 1. No swearing/inappropriate content 2. Stay on topic (like don't talk about random stuff) 3. Don't give yourself too much power if you're the bad guy (or good); remember: good guy always wins (at least at some point) 4. You CAN use smileys/emotes, but not too many. 5. Don't change the time/setting/situation... only narrator gets to do that! 6. If you want me to change something or whatever, just send me a PM so I can consider it 7. No unnecessary insulting (the good guys are allowed to insult the baddies sometimes and vice versa, but no random insults, please) 8. If you want to be someone from the Percy Jackson series or The Heroes of Olympus series, you can. (Not The Kane Chronicles; that deals with Egyptian stuff. This is Greek/Roman.) Have fun! Narrator: Setting: Forest in Dallas, TX. Time: 2:00 PM. Situation: Tiffany is hiking in the forest. Tiffany: *Pants* Whew, rough hike. *Sits down on nearby rock and pulls out phone. For some reason, it's not working* Tiffany: Whaaaat? I knew I charged it this morning...
  22. Hey guys, Ocelot here! Things are getting waaaay too dead here... almost as if something is killing the members... And thus I present to you this (unoriginal) roleplay! The name and idea were inspired by the book The Thirteenth Unicorn. The world is dying. Plants, animals, humans - they are all affected by a terrible sickness called the Blight. The landscape is desolate - plants are dead and shrivelled, trees reduced to twigs on the horizon. Death by the Blight is slow. First, nausea. Then coughing and fever Eventually, sufferers dissolve into insanity and hallucinations, until thier bodies finally give out and die. However, it isn't always fatal. Survivors of the Blight are known as 'The Affected.' It is almost impossible to bring an Affected back from their mad, broken state. Society has come to accept that it's kindest to kill any Affected. on sight. In this new, grey world, unaffected survivors must band together to form up a resistance against this disease, bring back the Affected, and rebuild the world. Sound good? No? Don't wait to be accepted. Just fill out the form and you're in! Form: Name: Age (Optional): Appearance: Personality: Weapons/Powers (Optional) Species (Optional) My form: Name: Ella Age: N/A Appearance: Cold blue eyes, long brown hair, red skirt and printed t-shirt Personality: Hostile, sarcastic, but loyal to those she trusts Weapons/Powers (Optional): A gun in her belt, a book full of spells (see below) and all she knows about The Blight Species (Optional): Mage/Human My second form: Name: Bianca Age: 15 Appearance: Long ginger hair, green eyes, much like my profile picture Personality: She's a little insane and has schizophrenia, her condition has been mistaken as the Blight by many people and as a result she's grown a fear of other humans Weapons/Powers (Optional): She has the ability to make people hallucinate and believe things she wants Species (Optional): Human Have fun!
  23. Hey guys, Ocelot here! And today I bring you... THE PERCY JACKSON ROLEPLAY! (Re-started) (I restarted it because we only had 2 members roleplaying before) You know what to do, fill out the form! You don't have to wait for me to accept it, just start roleplaying! (Here's my example form) Roleplay Name: Bianca Gender: Female Godly Parent: Hecate Camp: (CHB/SPQR): CHB (If a girl, Hunters of Artemis?) (Y/N): N And join in! Rules You can't be/have the same name as any of the major characters You Can however be named after minor characters, like I am No swearing (Except, of course, for dam and shist ) Note. This is set after the war to avoid complications with plot/characters. The story: Members of the new, combined camps have woken up to find all life on camp gone, except for you and a few others. An unknown enemy is rising, and titans of old are awaking. Chaos is slowly becoming aware, risen by the battles and panic all around the world. You must find the others and stop Chaos from joining in, or the world will fall. (Chaos is the God of the Void, where the world rose from, basically the 'God' figure of the gods, if that makes sense.) So yeah. Post!
  24. :The Roleplay Guide: Over 1,300 views! Hello, Forum-ers, and thank you for dropping by my topic! This guide was made after I realized that there was no existing, user-made guide to roleplaying. I know I could've used some help when I made my first RP, but realized I should make one after the said RP nose-dived miserably, which was mostly my fault. So, it was in that context that the Roleplay Guide came around. For your ease of enjoyment and use, this Guide is divided into 2 main sections, Creation and Playing Roleplay. The Creation section is to be used when creating a Roleplay of your own, from the beginning to end. The Playing Roleplay section is to be used when playing an existing Roleplay, whether it is your own or someone else's. Any feedback, constructive criticism, comments, etc. are welcomed, and I will do my best to reply to each of them as quick as possible. I hope the Guide helps you to have a better experience while Roleplaying. Thanks! :CREATION: When creating, these things should help you create a smooth, working, and hopefully popular RP! 1. The title In most cases, popular RPs have shorter, easily readable titles. Having too many colons, semicolons, etc, seem to steer people away from the RP. Keep titles simple, but not too simple. (Just for this, we'll make an RP about Iron Golems and Zombies) You should go for something like Golems vs. Zombies, instead of either golemzombiesepicfight, or Golems: Fight off the Zombies: Wave 1. The Attack Begins. I'm guilty of this myself; this is one of the things I think killed off my first RP. If you're careful, one colon or semicolon would be alright, just don't overdo it. 2. The backstory (V. Important) When creating a backstory, it helps to remember that different people will be attracted to different types. Short, quick backstories attract a certain 'group' of people, but long, in-depth ones attract a completely different spectrum of RPers. Be careful, though, to not make your backstories TOO long. (See rule #6 in Section 1 for more details) Answer these questions in order, and you'll have a rough cut to base your finished backstory on. 2.1 The Long Backstory Where does this roleplay happen? (I.e- New York? Casablanca? Venus?) When does the roleplay happen? (1800, 1999, 2099?) What is the conflict's major point? How did this conflict start? Who started the conflict? Are there any plot twists that should be mentioned? (I.e- You must find a gem that was lost 200 years ago, someone must die?) Who rises up to face the conflict? What is happening at the moment the RP starts? 2.2 The Short Backstory Where does this roleplay happen? When does it happen? What is the conflict? What is happening right now? Keep in mind, that in most cases, a conflict is what drives the story. If there is no conflict, no problem to resolve, what's the point? Now, I realize that in some cases, this is not true. School RPs, Camp RPs, etc. generally don't have many 'major' conflicts, but in most cases, if you want an RP that drives for line-after-line hard punching action, it's best to have conflicts. 3. The forms When making forms, some people seem to like going into their backstory, where as other people would rather reveal their backstory throughout the roleplay - it just depends on the person. So, here's a bad example and two good examples of character forms. Bad Example Name: Age: Power: Good Example #1 Name: Nicknames: Age: Likes: Dis-Likes: Personality: Looks: (optional) Backstory: (optional) Good Example #2 Name: Age: Personality: Looks: (optional) Powers: 4. Period Overuse Try not to overuse dots to emphasize something. This can get slightly annoying to your fellow RPers. For instance, if your character (we'll call our player 1 Jack & player 2 Jill) tells the other player they see a zombie, aim for: "Hey, I think I see a zombie!" instead of, "I see a zombie.......... dude." 5. Making The Rules Try to keep your rules simple and accommodating. Having too many rules can get on nerves and possibly cause short fuses, but too few rules can result in chaos. Having rules that focus on groups or certain people is annoying also. Try to shoot for basic rules that are fair on all sides. For instance, "No Swearing" would be a perfectly fair rule. On the other hand, "Nobody but me can have any superpowers." would be a stupid rule, as well as an offensive and unfair rule. 6. The Overly Complex, super-long, spoiler-inducing Backstory. (This was brought to my attention by Orisis and RedHawk007) This ties in with rule #2, but is somewhat different. When making a backstory, try not to make it incredibly complex. If you do, it might interfere with Original Character (OC) backstories, or interfere with another of your RPs. However, if you must, complex backstories are acceptable if you tread carefully. 7. Zoom! Gone! and speedy RPs (Thanks to Amethyst_Dragon for this.) RPs that have short, quickly played storylines can be obnoxious to play. Right as someone gets into the groove of RPing, bang! and it's gone. If you're using this guide to make your RP, try to use the 'Long Backstory' section over the 'Short Backstory' to further arouse their interest. :PLAYING A ROLEPLAY: When playing some-one else's RP, these may help. 1. Killing off. I've seen this before, where other people post something like.... "And Jack killed Jill!" or... *Kills Jill* This is just rude to kill off another player's character, unless the rules specifically say that this is allowed. Please note: This could tie in to Rule #15 'Powergaming', but I figured I'd be more specific on this one. 2. Coherent Sentences This would help also. Speak in coherent sentences. When people talk like this.... thisissoepic! This can annoy your fellow RPers as they must decipher your posts before replying. 3. Caps Overuse & Period M.I.A? So, I've noticed some people who's period key seems to go M.I.A (missing in action) and/or everything is capitalized. While readable, caps overuse is sometimes annoying... as in... I Looked Out My Window And Saw That It Was Morning. As for the M.I.A periods, that can get somewhat hard to read. Like... So, is it just me or do I hear a zombie I think I do what is that noise where did you go? While these don't make it impossible to read, they just help to cause more confusion. 4.Drastic Spacing Now, I know I am using lots of spacing for this Guide, but in an RP, it can get confusing if you have this. Such as.... ------------------------------------------------ I heard a noise. What is it? I cocked my gun, and pulled my helmet lower over my ears as the wind whistled by. I heard the noise again. ----------------------------------- You get the idea. This can waste space and break scroll wheels. 5. Arguing with the Owner Arguing with the RP owner can be a problem. Some people say the rules are 'unfair'. This may be true, but don't lash it out on the owner in the RP. Try sending him a PM if you really must. If the rule is truly unfair, I would think the man would reply to you, and edit the post. He may be prone to let off some steam if you confront him right in with the RP posts. 6. Being a pain. This can be annoying to anyone playing with you. Example: Player 1: *Jack walks down the street* Player 2: *runs up* *kicks Jack in the chest super hard* Haha! You'll never catch me! *speeds off* You see? I think we can both figure out who's at fault here. 7. Keep the Action. So, this rule could fall into either this or the Creating section. There's not much to say, except this: If the RP gets rather slow-paced and boring, nobody's going to want to keep playing it. I've been at fault on this count before. 8. Random Entering and Hermit-ing yourself. This was brought to my attention by AmethystDragon. Some people have a habit of picking up on the RP later in the game, and therefore not meeting up with the other characters, furthermore seeming to just RP on their own, without tying themselves in with the other RPers. So, if you come into an RP after there's already multiple pages and they're deep in the story, try to come in in the least obstructive way possible. For instance, we're on Page 109 of 'Golem's Vs. Zombies', and 'Weird_Bob_Lame' pops in on us. He should probably join by (after filling out the form) doing something like: *walks up* "Hey guys! What's going on here?" (Please note: Not all situations would be appropriate for this. If you're in a space station 200,000 miles from earth, fighting zombies in weightlessness, Weird_Bob_Lame is going to have to have a pretty good excuse for showing up there. Instead, Weird_Bob could hang back until an impossible entry situation levels out, and there's a lull in the action. Perfect for him to join up. Get me? 9. Conflicting OC Backstories. So, this also was brought to my attention by AmethystDragon. If your character's Backstory, (assuming your RP Form has a Backstory section) conflicts with another RP you're doing, with the current RP's backstory, or with another player's Backstory, you're going to have a problem. So, there's a few things you could do. Compare your OC's story with the RP's story. Make sure it doesn't conflict. If it does, either don't join that RP, or change some things around. It's not going to help anything with conflicting Backstories. 10. Trapping Players So, this could tie in with rule #1, but not fully. It's extremely annoying to trap another RP character in an un-escapable situation. Sure, you can chuck 'em in jail, but make sure that there's some way for them to get out. If there isn't, you're just being a pain. 11. Look at Meeee! No, Meeee! Me! ME! (This was brought to my attention by RedHawk007) Trying to make everyone center on and serve you is not exactly polite. If someone else is the main character in the RP (literally speaking) don't try to aim the spotlight on yourself. Just play nice, obey rules, and you may get famous for it. Try to speed up the process, and you'll just reverse it. 12. Flame War! No, it's Fire Battle. No, it isn't. YES! NO! (This was suggested by DDDaxton222) Starting 'flame wars', throwing insults back and forth, and basic arguments are a definite No-no in the RP community. If you get into an argument with a fellow RPer, you're going to destroy the smooth storyline of the RP, and make some people mad, as well as fill up useless pages. Try to get along with other RPers so that everyone has a good time! 13. Out-Of-Topic Posts So, I've only seen this a little, but I think it warrants a rule. Some people will randomly post things in the RP that have nothing to do with the RP. Like, somebody will pop in randomly and say something like.... This just messes people up, not to mention taking up un-necessary space, even if just a little. 14. Leaving players behind. (thanks to Amethyst_Dragon for this rule) When playing an RP, make sure your fellow RPers know what's going on, and are keeping up with it. It's extremely annoying to get left behind when RPing; having everyone else blitzing off ignoring the fact that you have no clue what's going on. If someone says "Hey! What's going on? I'm lost!" and they don't mean it in the OC's point of view, then tell them what's going on, and try to explain it to them. It's the nice thing to do. 15. The Op and the Powergamer (This was suggested by everyonesepic) (Disclaimer!- When I refer to 'Op' in here, I am referring to someone who has to much power in an RP, not an Op as in Admin or mod) Playing 'op-style' or undertaking powergaming can cause lots of issues in an RP, make people mad at you, or worse. For instance, if my OC punched yours, normal players would say something like this. "I punched Clok in the gut" while powergamers/ops would say something like... "I punched Clok in the gut, watching him reel back in pain as his ribcage snapped under the pressure of my fist. He landed on his back, cracking his head sharply on the cold cement; a pool of blood formed around his limp head." Ok, while they may not phrase it that way, you can see what I mean. They are controlling your OC to inflict damage on you. This is not something to do, as it can get you permanent enemies, in and out of the RP. 16. Long player forms. (Thanks to Amethyst Dragon) Now, while this may appear to contradict Rule #3 of Creation, it does deserve a mention here. While some people, (as I said) prefer to show you their 19-line-backstory, other people prefer to... A) Not tell you their backstory. At. All. Or, B) Reveal the backstory through hints and conversation over the course of the Roleplay. So, a way to remedy this problem and therefore attract a larger, wider audience, you could A) Eliminate the backstory section of the forms completely, or B) put the handiest little thing in the world after it... Backstory:(optional) This would leave some people the option to share or not share their backstory. Problem fixed! 17. Don't get too attached to your OCs. (Thanks to RedHawk007 for suggestion) Before you think that title is weird, allow an explanation. It's fine to get attached to them in a way (hey, you did make them!). but not to get too attached to them in such a way that you would get mad at someone if their OC does something to your OC. It's all in the Roleplay - to a limit. This doesn't mean you can just go skipping around insulting and OP playing everything and not expect people to get mad at you. But if you and everyone plays fair, don't get mad at someone else just because they played a disadvantageous hand against you. -=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Well, that's all for now. I will make sure, (mark my words) that I update this and change it around in the future to help fit your needs better, because by no means is this Guide finished. I still have things to learn, and this Guide still has more things to acquire. I hope this helps you as you make and play an RP. If you need help creating an RP, please PM me, as I love to help create that kind of thing! Woo-Hoo guys! Over 1000 views on the Guide now! Thanks so much! Cheers! ~Clok
