  1. Hello guys, today I will show you how to download 2 MI versions to the same computer at the same time. I use my renders in version 2.0 and my animations in pre 4, and doing it this way helps me a lot. I showed these steps in version 2.0 You can do the same steps for different versions. Upload the first version to the "Users" section normally (or you can open a different folder as in the step above) First, crate a folder: Second, launch installer: Third, select the folder you created and and copy the file path: Fourth, paste the file path into the installer: (my computer is in different language) Finally, complete the downloader and enjoy 2 MI versions i can use same time Enjoy!
  2. Hagus's Guide to Story Writing Hey guys! I'm gonna give you some tips for writing good, entertaining stories that you can hopefully use when animating a longer animation or series. First off, if you've joined the Community Project, you probably know I can write a pretty good story already, but I'll tell you what you need to do to make one of your own. Characters Setting Plot/Story Line Writing The Story
  3. Having just decided to spend some actual time on animations lately, I've run into brick walls more times than I can count with visual glitches that I thought were bugs in the program. Blocks not showing up through glass, water getting lit when it should be dark, etc. They're not bugs, though. They're simply a victim of the Render Depth setting. Render Depth is a simple numeric value that tells Mineimator which objects to render first. By default, Mineimator sets all imported objects to Depth 0, which is probably fine for basic animations, but I quickly got into projects that couldn't just have everything rendered in one path. Otherwise stuff like this happens: Render Depth acts like a sorted list, so an object with render depth 0 is going to render first. The next object with render depth 1 goes next, applying whatever scene changes the first render pass created. Then objects with depth 2, 3, 4 and so on. The result is a stacking render that can be used for some interesting effects (or brain-bending glitches!) The glitch above happened when a fully enclosed structure (with a canal through the center) and the water were imported as separate objects. The water (which defaulted to Depth 0) was rendering first, where it was open to the sky and thus illuminated. The overarching structure (which I somehow managed to fumble into Depth 5) was then rendering around it, causing the water to be illuminated within an otherwise dark scene. So before you go running off to the help forums (or the bug report page) to complain about situations like above, check your render depth settings. As a general rule, you want your scenery to render first, then blocks, then items/players, then particles. However, some situations (generally involving colored glass from my experience) may require that the scenery be rendered last. You'll just have to figure it out on a case-by-case basis. [I may come back and edit this later with some more details and image examples, but I haven't the time right now.]
  4. So, a good friend of mine, being the cat, convinced me to create a guide for those of you that want to get into RPing, but have trouble. Well, let me walk you through, friends! Just know, this guide may not always work for you, but this is my process, from the slightly autistic guy with an IQ of 144. Just do your best, and you too can be amazing! Step 1: Inspiration I'm going to go through this guide with the process I came along creating Galarar, my avatar and most widely used OC. His creation mostly came about in the early days, when I was somewhat new here. What I like to do is find something I like or can change, make better, etc. and bring it more life. For instance, Galarar was inspired by a somewhat lesser known Sega game, Spiral Knights. (Basically, you play as a sci-fi knight with guns and all, get to the bottom of the planet, etc. etc.) I liked its art style, and the concept was good, but I thought it could use work. Then I though: "What if there was an evil one who could just look at someone and they explode, he's so powerful?" That idea was quickly replaced with "What if there was an evil one that got kicked out, tries to conquer the universe, and fails 100% of the time?" And, well, that's how that came around. Step 2: It's Called an Original Character But just remember the title: OC. That means original. Which, in turn, means: No self-made bronies, or _____ The Hedgehogs, because that's just stupid. Sorry, anyone who's done that.Put some actual effort into it. Don't just make a cheesy ripoff of something else, like the 20 billion Deadpools at ComiCon. Sorry, 20 billion Deadpool cosplayers at ComiCon.Make the idea your own. If you do find inspiration that compels you enough, just go for the idea, customize and personify it a little, and there you go!Finally, just make it original, and make it something that hasn't been done before. Please no cliches, shark-jumpers, fridge-nukers, etc. The only exception to this kind of rule is a joke character.Step 3: Redistribution of Power Now comes the part where, chances are, if you want a more interesting or action-based character or anything cool in general, you'll want to give them special traits or abilities. A few tips: Make them use their powers differently than others who have had the same. For instance, think of the difference between, say, Hawkeye and Green Arrow. I don't know. And yes, I know, no real powers, but shut up. This is my guide. They both use generally the same gear and such, but they still manage to use it in different was. And the list goes on, such as Wolverine and Deadpool again. Polar opposites. Try to differentiate.BALANCE YOUR CHARACTERS. This is essential. If they are too OP or have too specific conditions where things can actually affect them, they will flop and not work out well. You must find ways to balance them. For instance, with her permission, take Ocelot's Alex. She somehow managed to balance the ability to hack reality and make it fair and balanced because the character takes non-violent ways and can get tired out by over usage. Find character traits or physical limits to balance things out, when all else fails.More coming in the future! Follow for more!
  5. Found this video on YouTube, seemed to help me a lot when making my animations. Most vids show you how to animate, or do one thing but this guy tells a little about everything to help you star your projects and get them all the way to the finall editing and video prductioin parts. I had no idea about WorldEdit untill I watched this video. Just thought I should share it lolz. https://youtu.be/IICoG9p4knM
  6. In this guide i'll teach you how to put music on your "about me" page. (ps this also works for signature's, but make sure the soundcloud player fits in the signature.) In this guide we'll be using soundcloud as the music host. Step: 1 First off you'll need to get a url for the song you want. (this is just an example). Step: 2 Now you'll need to find some empty space on your "about me" page to insert the soundcloud music player. Step: 3 When that's done, press the "special BB code" button, choose soundcloud and then paste the soundcloud url in the "Content" blank space. Step: 4 Now the last step is to just click the "OK" button. Step: 5 Profit! Sadly this: Might happen. ;/
  7. This is how to animate a crowd. Spawn a 5*5 grid of people (can be any size but if it is something tiny it will look unrealistic) Animate them Parent them all to a folder Duplicate the folder and put it next to the original Edit it a tiny bit Duplicate both of them so that you have two different variations and make a crowd!
  8. :The Original Character [OC] Creation Guide 2.0: 400 views Wow! Now with multiple methods! Hello everyone! I have written, created, and articulated many, many Original Characters overtime, whether it be for stories I write, or for Roleplays on this form. Therefore, after seeing people struggle with OCs, I thought that this community needs a OC Creation Guide! So, this is what this is. I hope this Guide helps you to create and use OCs that you're proud of! So, without further ado, (cause I've already had a lot of ado) here it is. OC Creation Method 1 In which we go step by step, slowly and carefully. This can help if you're somewhat new to RPing, as it guides you over each small step, carefully. 3.2 Refine it! Now, for this, you need to finish step 3.1. So, you have a very rough cut bio for your OC. Now for refining it! You can use some, all, or one of these questions, depending on how much depth you want/need.! Did your OC have any special tokens or trinkets that hold a special value to him or her? If your OC was born with abnormalities, how has he/she overcome these? Has he/she overcome them at all? What was the OC's childhood like? If he/she was popular, in what way were they 'popular; in school? In the jousting arena? Around town? In a bad way? If they weren't popular, did it effect him/her in any way? if your OC acquired any powers as a child, how? Were they given a magical sword by an dying knight? If something happened to the OC's parents that left him/her on their own, what happened? How did it happen? (this is a good place for a plot twist such as your OC goes hunting for justice. Think Batman style) Was there a war or conflict in the area of your OC's childhood? Did this effect the OC in any direct manner? Indirect manner? If your OC excelled at sports, to what extent? Who was better than him? Worse? Did he/she ever fail at anything, and become excellent as they tried to gain back a formerly held place? Does your OC have any extremely close friends/allies that help of hinder him/her in their mission/quest? Remember to add your own questions to each OC! Everyone's different! 3.3 The Compact Backstory Does the above guide look waaaayy to hard for you? Well, that's fine. Use this guide to make a shorter, quicker, more compact OC Backstory. Where and when was OC born? Did anything major happen in his childhood? (don't mention if nothing did) What powers does he have? Does he have any enemies/vendettas? Ta-da! Short, quick and simple. Done! Here's an example of a short backstory, 1st person view, about an OC named Jack. This tells the same story as the Long Backstory example. (Note: Once you're through using the short Backstory section, if you do, scroll up to 3.1 to further refine this backstory [optional]) OC Method 2 For the savvier, more experienced Roleplayer. (Many, many thanks to Amethyst_Dragon, who suggested a lot, lot, lot of this) Well, look there! You've made a pretty fancy Original Character! Congratulations! Well, I hoped this guide helps you. Please, leave any suggestions or comments below. By no means, at all, is this guide finished. It still has lots to add, and lots to learn! I'll try to update this whenever something new or something I'm missing comes to my attention. Thanks a lot for spending time reading this, and I'd love to hear from you. Thanks! Also, if you need help creating or working on an OC, please PM me; I'd be happy to help! And feel free to leave feedback! It'd mean the world! Cheers! ~Clok

  10. Hi, everyone So, I bet most of you are wondering how in the heck I already have 300+ rep yet I've only been on for a bit more than a month. Well... this guide'll tell you, and help you to achieve crazy amounts of rep every day (Okay, maybe not that much, just more than you normally get.) This guide includes a few good ways to get more rep, and why it helps. (Sorry if this is confusing and/or vague. I'm new to creating tutorials/guides.) The Guide To Earning Respect: Hope this helped! Feedback is greatly appreciated!
  11. Today I'll show you how you can make a good looking thread in the "Mine-Imator creations" and "Mine-imator Resources"-Sections. 1. Short Tipps Use pictures, bold text, size of the text, colors and other editor features. Try to do as few spelling and grammar mistakes as possible: While this is not allways possible because many of the forum members come from countrys you don't speak english (me too), try to write your text as good as you can. Nut like dis säntance. Structure your threads. Make sub headings and things, use spoilers for big things like pictures. People like it when your thread is easy to navigate trough. Use a heading that says: What is your creation?, When Rigs: What is special about your Rig?, Why people should look at your thread. Good: "Advanced Steve Rig: Fingers, better eyes, facial expressions Updated: 01.01.2014" Bad: "Cool rig I made! download now!!!!!1111" Why is this heading bad? 1. You don't know what this rig is 2. You don't know why you should even look at this rig, you could just use a different one "Download now" does not belong in a heading and it makes you look like you just want downloads 2. A thread in the "Rig"-Section Here I'll show you how to make a good looking thread in the "Rig"-Forum. So let's start: Look at the Advanced Steve Rig from Zuexs or my Rig selection. (This does not mean that the others are bad, I just used these two.) Why are these two good? 1. They have a good heading. If you read the heading, you know what this thread is about. 2. They use spoilers for the things that should not pop up when you open the tread. (Imagine my thread without the spoilers. It would confuse everyone. Just open them all and see what I mean.) 3. They have a picture at the top: This makes the thread looking professional and clean. Nobody likes plain text everywhere. 4. They have sub-headings: So these are very important for bigger threads. And normally you only get those in the Rig-Forum. Imagine Zuexs' Thread without the sub-headings(these Achievement-like things). It would be a pain to navigate through his thread. 5. They don't have tons of text. They use pictures. And pictures say more than 1000 words. (Seriously, you can't describe a rig just with words. Use pictures!) 6. They don't just have a plain link to mediafire. Here you can use pictures too. Look at the end of this thread, there I'll explain how to do this. 3. A animation thread When making a thread about your animation, try to AVOID these things: A long text that you have to read to understand the animation. Make it short! The users want to see the animation and not a 2 pages long text. Talking about how cool your animation is (Something like "This is my best animation so far. I think it looks cool." is ok), just try not to make the impression that you think your the best Animator EVAAAAAR. Give your thread a heading that says what your animation is, if you do so, no people will come because they think your animation is different than it is or they will be disappointed. A tip: Give credit to everything you use from others, even if they say you don't need to. Because if you do, everyone will know you're a person who doesn't take things from others without giving credit to them. 4. A "Wallpaper-thread" So you want to post the super-cool-mega-amazing™ wallpaper you made? Here are some tips for you! Your wallpaper is the important thing! People come because they want to see the wallpaper and not a long story. Put your wallpaper at the top or after a short sentence. 5. Tools to make your thread look professional So you saw my picture heading or the achievement subheading from Zuexs and want to create your own? Here is how: Achievements: Just go to this site and choose your icon, title and text. Minecraft-Style Logo: This site is just amazing! You can choose different fonts, sizes, shadows, 3Dish looks, colors and more. Try it yourself. Extra Informations How to make pictures contain a link: [url=<url of the download>][img=<url of your image>][/IMG][/URL] Replace <url of the download> with the download link of your creation and <url of your image> with the url of your image. You can host images here. --This thread is still WIP--
