SoundsDotZip got a reaction from __Mine__ in Glow squid is just as useless as we thought.
I personally wanted the glowsquid to be added, but I also thought it's just gonna exist in the ocean and that's it. Instead, we can now make item frames, the thing in it, and text on signs emissive, which could be used for making maps visible all the time, etc. There's actually a use for them rather than just a cool appearance. I'm glad I chose the glowsquid.

I think this is trying too hard to be like Blender, if I'm honest.
Mine-imator should never be made complicated, it should remain easy to use so newbies can make their silly renders/animations for fun while gradually building up skill, without being immediately overwhelmed by the program.
...All just my opinion, though.

I don't really agree about some of your points, @__Mine__.
Yes, the Warden's damage and health are insane, but remember you can literally sneak past it and it won't even realize you're there and you'll leave unscathed. It's pretty much just a challenge for the players who purposefully seek it, and it might drop some legendary-tier item as a reward. Also, remember that we're like... at least 8 months away from release, there'll be ample time to tweak its stats if need be. Boss fights are supposed to be drawn-out events in multiple stages, this is just like fighting a Lynel in Breath of the Wild. It'll kill you faster than Calamity Ganon, but the event in itself is much less elaborate. LadyAgnes confirmed on Twitter there'll be a way to "freeze" the copper blocks into their current state. The archaeology loot is almost certainly placeholder stuff, there's no way they'd make it so that you can literally grab full diamond blocks from the soil. It's just for demonstration purposes. Again, nothing we've seen is final, there's still a long way to go. -

Honestly, I really want to be happy for this update. But I just can't help but feel like it's only going to trivialise more aspects of the game and make "Survival" mode even more of a joke than it already is.
Probably because most of the features are unbalanced as hell, which is exactly the kind of problem most mods almost always have, hence the understandable "feels too mod-like" mentality.
I love the design of the Warden (intimidating, but oddly also rather cute), but the fact it deals 7 hearts of damage to full Netherite armour is ridiculous.
When you have an underground Overworld mob dealing more damage than all of the game's so-called "bosses" and requires end-game armour just to be able to tank a single hit, there's a big balance problem.
I like the addition of Copper, solely on the fact it's the first Overworld ore since Emeralds in 1.3, over eight years ago. The fact the block slowly fades to a green colour over time is a nice touch of realism, but unless there's a way to prevent it from changing colour, I don't see it being that useful for building.
I absolutely despise the addition of the Lightning Rod though, as it allows for Charged Creeper farms to be made completely automatic near-effortlessly, totally trivialising the mechanics and acquisition of Charged Creepers (turning what used to be an extremely rare, genuine threat into nothing more than a mob-head slave that no-one takes seriously or even gives a second thought to), and making the most exploitable mob in the entire game even more exploitable.
Seriously Mojang, stop it.
I really don't like the Archaeology feature. It just doesn't fit in at all and seems useless, as you said. Something people will look at for five minutes and then promptly forget exists.
And then there's this:
Imagine adding a feature in a caving/mining update that invalidates caving/mining almost entirely.
I mean, it was pretty blatant enough with Mojang's reluctance to update caves and mining given they'd ignored the cries for the past 4-5 years, but the features they're adding really feels like they're actively trying to discourage players from mining in the first place, especially considering how easy it is to get Diamonds etc. anywhere else.
Honestly, in my (unpopular) opinion this game has been going downhill for years. Mojang just seem to enjoy trivialising Survival mode, to the point that it's basically become "Creative mode with extra steps".
...but yeah, those are my thoughts on the update. I cannot stress enough that I really want this update to succeed in what it's designed for, but given Mojang's track record, as well as the features we've seen so far, I'm really not holding my breath...
...yet.
Damn that was long, fully expecting downvotes for this tbh.

SoundsDotZip reacted to __Mine__ in This year's Mob Vote is going to be disappointing... Recycled roster, and the only in
Honestly, it is disappointing. We're basically picking between a reskinned Squid, a reskinned Illager or a reskinned Cow.
If I had to pick one I'd go for the Glow Squid because I see the best potential in that one. It could have emissive textures to simulate bioluminescence, which I reckon would look really nice in oceans if done right. Can't help but feel Mojang won't get it right though, given their track record (*cough*Phantoms*cough*).
We don't need yet another Illager in a game where like a third of all hostile mobs are Illagers, and the whole "punny-named Cow haha" gimmick has already been done with the Mooshroom, we don't need another one.
Honestly, with this kind of choice, it really makes me think Mojang are starting to lose their creativity and are resorting to recycling ideas/gimmicks over and over.
Which imo was apparent when they named the new Nether ore "Netherite", which is possibly the most uninspired name ever.

This would be amazing to try out!
- Cinnamon is good
- Marshmellows are good
- Cereal is good
- Creeper theme is good
Sadly I won't be able to try it out, because it's either not gonna be available in my country, or even if it is, I won't be able to eat it because I'm gluten intolerant.
The sadness is real.
