been playing animal crossing new horizons for the first time and holy crap, it's infuriatingly tedious, grindy and time wasting. you just constantly run around trying to find fish/insects and complete small tasks. if you buy an item, you have to literally wait for a real life day, and there's not even splitscreen but instead some annoying leader stuff
i really can't understand the hype for this game especially when it's this boring and costs 80 dollars

Animal Crossing isn't exactly the type of game where one plays/grinds for hours in order to get the most enjoyment out of it. It's a game meant to be played in small intervals, like during a break, and you're expected to take your time instead of trying to rush through the activities. Basically, it's a game that you play when your relaxing, not exactly to challenge yourself.
Don't worry, though, I still completely understand where you're coming from. I recall buying and anticipating Stardew Valley a lot, as I heard rave reviews about it and I thought the general mechanics looked interesting, but, when I actually played the game, it just didn't click well with me. Still good game, but it just wasn't my type.
