Jake_28 got a reaction from Economic1024 in Is their any good way you can replicate Minecraft's promo art lighting?
    Yeah, i've done it before.
    In this render:
I used planes with a gradient texture to make the highlights/outlines. For the bright ones i used a white or yellowish-white with an add filter, for the darker ones i used a darker version of the color of the part it's on.
The lighting is all completely hand made. The dark on the side and bottom of the head, arms, body, and legs were made with dark colored planes with different opacity.
The shadow was made using a gradient texture and the alpha glitch to shape it. (I actually had to use a green screen to make it transparent because the alpha glitch broke the render with "remove background" toggled on.

When you become a fan of someone, often times you try to be just like him.
However, despite the effort, sometimes the world just isn't by your side.
Could Boney Man save the town for one last time with one of his beloved fans?

This is the last episode for our bonebrained hero... for now. I used up all my creativity making this series, and the well is currently empty. Regardless, thanks for watching.

For a while, I've been working on Limbo Next, a roughly 30 minute movie featuring Limbo ( @MikTRF ,@9redwoods, @Frost, @Jake_28 @DragonPixel, @LordKillo ,@Jnick, @Floofy, PhyreCreations and me), a regular group of teenagers that while meeting up in NYC, quickly turns into a resistance caught in the middle of the crossfire of a cartoonishly cliché evil authoritarian hivemind dead-set on taking over the minds of every human on the planet.
Will they succeed to defeat the hivemind and save the world using the power of friendship? There's only one way to know.

this was more of a render to test out MI 2.0 but i figured i'd have a little more fun with it

There you have the download for the model I showed two days ago!

It has custom models for controller, game and console and a pack with all of them in one model!
You can change the game with the "Games" folder.(Only works if you use just the game because only there you have the "Select game" part!)

    Jake_28 reacted to david in Dev update #22: Mine-imator 2.0 in C++!?
    Greetings!
With the 10 year anniversary of Mine-imator coming up, I’ve decided to temporarily rejoin the developer team and add some long requested features you will soon be able to download in an upcoming version 2.0 pre-release arriving late May/early June!
@Nimi has done some phenomenal work on new features (many not even announced yet!), however the graphics engine used (GameMaker) has been a big obstacle towards optimizing the software and ensuring good framerates and memory usage with all the new additions. Therefore I have jumped in to lend a hand and I've finally been able to successfully migrate Mine-imator to a new graphics engine using the C++ programming language for added performance, optimized memory (x64) and multi-platform support. For all the technical details see the bottom of the post.
In order to facilitate the development we have greatly appreciated your support throughout the years, creating and sharing content, giving suggestions, reporting bugs and especially with donations! Mine-imator has for the past decade been completely free and will remain so, but your donations have helped keep it alive with webserver costs and directly funded the development of version 2.0 (for instance, I had to get a MacBook for this update 😉). If you have not donated yet to the development team or wish to continue supporting, see the link below:
Donate to Mine-imator development ($5+ one-time or recurring)
With all that aside, let’s get to the new features found in the first 2.0 pre-release, later followed by additional releases with Nimi’s UI changes, animation improvements and rendering features (See Dev Update #21)!
    Let’s get HYPED!

Starting off small yet useful, an actually working Cancel option when clicking the program’s X!

Next up something for the multi-monitor animators: No more crammed workspaces, simply detach your timeline or camera view into a second window and drag it to another screen!

Scenery/.schematic file loading has been multi-threaded and optimized to be around 10 times faster as well as taking up less memory, allowing much bigger regions than before! In addition, the scenery is cached and instantly loaded upon re-opening your project (with no loading bar).

Mine-imator will soon be able to handle much more complex projects with a speedup between 3-5 times compared to earlier versions when rendering many objects. This is made possible with CPU optimizations and combining objects into batches before sending them to the GPU for rendering (Mine-imator will not be allocating more CPU resources compared to current versions, just using them more efficiently).

Linux users have been left out of using Mine-imator for 10 years, but no more! Version 2.0 will run smoothly on Debian/Ubuntu operating systems with all the same features!
(P.S. If you have another favorite Linux distribution let us know)

Same goes for Mac OS users after countless requests!

Finally, the “Import from World” option has been completely reworked to have a 3D interface for more easily selecting a section of your world to animate. Despite being 3D and having more options, it will also load worlds much more quickly compared to the current version and in general be more stable. It will also be integrated into the software rather than opening a pop-up window, and accessed with a shortcut in the toolbar.

Behind the scenes of the 2.0 C++ port:
(Things will get technical and nerdy, you have been warned!!)

Be sure to keep an eye out for the upcoming pre-releases, following our Twitter page or joining our Discord chat might be a good idea. 😎✌️
Once again thank you for all the support through the years and keep on animating our favorite block game!
    /David

Jake_28 got a reaction from Draco63 in Redwall Renewed full length animation paid position
You might want to split animation and lighting. There are a ton of great animators who are bad at lighting, and vice versa.
Also, maybe be a bit more specific with rates?
What does that even mean? Is there a set amount of budget for the whole thing, and you're splitting it based on % of work done on that? like 1 minute out of 10 minutes gets 10%?
When will people be paid? After the project, or during?
How will people be paid? Paypal? Invoices? Other methods?
And you didn't go into how much other positions would be paid either.

Also keep in mind that one: Most people under 18 can't get their own bank or paypal account,
and two: Most people on the Mine-Imator forums are children. If this is serious, you might need to consider looking somewhere else.
Did some math, assuming it's 20 minutes. that would mean you're planning on doing roughly 100 seconds of animation per month, divided into 4 people that's 25 seconds per person per month, assuming you start in january of 2022. just wanted to say that in case anyone was wondering

also i like how you use excessive caps and exclamation marks, and a distinct lack of formatting. very professional!!!
In the end, given it was posted here, on the forums, given the lack of formatting, and weird usage of caps and punctuation at points, this reads like some kid trying to start yet another Mine-Imator team.

    Welcome to Mineimator Violet!
I am Excai, an amateur animator and programmer
Thanks to my friends, we have completed an exciting mineimator modding
Now let me introduce you to violet!

    Post progressing update:
You can moderate the color temperature of your renders now.
This new property can be found in ‘Camera-Color correction’.

We also improved the brightness algorithm in the "color correction" of camera settings.

    Fog update:
We added two types of fog in Mine-imator Violet, height fog and volume fog.
Both of them give your animations/pictures an entirely new look.
More importantly, they do not require expensive hardware or devices to use. Enjoy Mine-imating with them!
    Height fog:
    Volume fog:

    Control FOV by camera length:
To handle some camera effects like Dolly Zoom correctly, we add a checkbox under the Field of View in the Camera tab.
When activated, "Field of view" will turn into "Camera length".
Now you can control your lens width smoothly!

    Bezier ease curve:
We introduce the Bezier curve to you in Mine-imator Violet!
Using the Bezier curve could make our animation more controllable and fluent.
You can find it in ‘frame editor - Keyframe’, where you chose ease curve before.

    Mouth animator:
    Confused about making mouth animation?
Our mouth animator will handle this hard-nut for you!
By using this mouth animator, you can get a correct mouth animation that varies in the mouth model.
Whatever your mouthes are, the mouth animator could generate animation based on the sound provided by you.
You can find it on the toolbar, which looks like a lip plus.

    Model importer:
We always dreamed of importing some excellent models from Minecraft mods easily.
    Now the dream come true!
You can import models from particular Resource packs and Minecraft mods into Mine-imator now, only in the Violet version.

    Night theme:
Used to be a night owl?
We provide an auto-changing night theme.
Take care of your precious eyes. :-)

    Startup acceleration:
Violet version has reduced the software startup time by 50%.

    Multiple resources import:
Violet supports importing multiple texture files at once

Jake_28 reacted to crustyjpeg in The Modelbench Armory
It's a little tough to say this, but here goes:
Over the past couple weeks, as I said I would, I've tried to get back into working on the Armory - but it's been going nowhere.    I've given it some thought and have come to the realization that I can't really continue this project as a consistent/major thing much longer, for several reasons such as diversifying interests, having a job now, general personal stuff, the fact that most of my friends on this site have mostly or completely moved on, and admittedly just losing some interest in the Armory itself.
So, as much as I'd like to keep this going forever, I simply no longer have the time to do this consistently without making myself miserable.
Now, I'm not going to just leave it at that and let it die just like that.    That'd be lame.
So I'm ditching the plans I had for a return update on the 28th of this month, and instead I'm going to get together all the unreleased stuff I've got laying around (mostly ww2 update stuff), remake the lowest quality weapons in the Armory, get the attachments in a better/more versatile state, and try to knock out a few requests and essential/iconic weapons, and put it all in one big 'ol update sometime in January to give the Armory a satisfying end and leave it in a state where there isn't anything I'm dissatisfied with.
I should note however, that this doesn't mean I will completely stop working on the Armory after that.    I've got some neat update ideas laying around and there's still an obscene amount of requests that I'd still rather get through if I can.      So chances are I'll set aside a couple weeks every now and then throughout 2022 and randomly release some weapons and stuff, it just won't be frequent or consistent.
Also it's probably obvious but I'm closing off requests for good now, although if someone urgently needs a specific gun for a project of theirs I'd be more than happy to set aside a little time to make it for them.

I want to end this post by just saying thank you so goddamn much to the people who helped out by making animations and weapons for this, made requests, made the original idea that I blantantly stole, and perhaps most of all those who used stuff from the Armory in their animations.  (except in monster school anims smh my head)
You guys made this project both possible and worthwhile, and this has really been one of the best parts of my life thus far.

mine-imator luckily automatically saves every few minutes, here's how you can access those:
press "Open Project" in the first screen to open a project from it's file. from there, you'll be able to access the folders of your projects. open the folder of project you lost, then on the bottom right of the explorer window, change the file type to ".backup". you should be able to access backup saves from there. they might not contain everything, but they'll probably contain most of what you worked on.

In order to change the textures, just import the one you want! (for the campfire, the two variants of fire must be imported one frame each since ModelBench doesn't support custom models having animatable parts)
