Why is taiga so important?

It's mostly about what they promised to add. They said they would put berry bushes, campfires, and foxes in taiga if it gets added. While I would like desert to be more interesting, they said they would add palm trees and meerkats. That was it. If they had promised more interesting and more in general updates to the desert, I would've voted for it, but it seems like taiga's updates would have more use in a survival sense, and also look nicer. Oh yeah, and I'm kind of biased towards foxes.

I think there will be much more than what was shown. They never said that only the shown would be coming.
