Collaboration would be between 2 or more people working simultaneously on a project. Contest is where people compete to win a desired givings. For a minimum time scale I would recommend at least a month as it let's creators have more freedom to create better and smoother animations

To use custom textures you only need to copy a texture file in mineimator-> other -> textures then you can edit the copy of the file with any program (Windows default is Paint) and change the textures of blocks. After you save the file you then load in a schematic and select the texture option ( I believe that's what its called) and the default option will either say Minecraft or Default. You can then change it to the texture file you changed.

I never really understood why people don't use more recent versions, could anyone fill me in? Also Congrats on Upgrading
