Ok, forget about reputation. Let’s just talk about downvotes and upvotes. Ever heard of the word “encouragement”? Imagine you are not too good at something, but you tried your best doing it. After a lot of effort, It turned out not too badly, and you are proud. You want to show it off to the community. But after all that effort, all you get is a downvote, simply because it’s not perfect. IT HURTS. Even if you don’t care about reputation, it STILL HURTS.

Heyonia started the status update about Ian as a joke... he didn't expect it to become serious that leads to this status update

On the serious side, when we have a newcomer who just registered here with the same habit as ian, probably will end up with negative rep, getting negative and negative.

Despite the fact that Ian has 3 times more upvotes than downvotes, people already see him to love downvote on literally everything.

Now this status update has created a lot of discussion about Ian... pretty sure this unintentionally tells Ian to calm down with the downvotes. (and i started seeing it)
