  1. I guess I’ll do it now.

Minecraft is a game I loved for years but recently I feel like Im either growing out of it or I just don’t like the way they are going with the game. Back when Microsoft bought Mojang I was optimistic nothing was going to change, that Minecraft would be fine but I think that was wrong. It seemed like everything was fine, Microsoft had no control over what Mojang does but behind the scenes I feel Microsoft has quite a bit to say in the development of Minecraft. But the real day Minecraft lost its charm was when it was ported to consoles. Yeah, sure call me a PC fanboy but I truly think this is when Minecraft truly started to go down hill.

Now let me tell you a little something. Back in the beta days we didn’t have snapshots, hell the first snapshots were beta 1.9 and only a select amount of people got to test those. There was a charm not knowing what is coming next, not knowing what new mobs were added, not what new ores were added. Even back before I joined the game, which was beta 1.7.3, there were these things called secret Friday updates and they would always be out of the blue on a Friday. What made these so interesting is no one knew about them or what was in them. Youd get home after school on a Friday and boom, update available. Redstone was actually added in one of these updates and you know how much that changed the game. I never got to experience these updates but Im sure they were a lot of fun. This sends me back to my point. During all the 1.13 snapshots I refused to know what was going to be added, it was an experiment I suppose. It was hard with everyone talking about it. I just knew a few things. The results to this little experience were disappointing. Sure everything was cool, an ocean update, people have been asking that for years but something just felt off. The things that were added, did they have any real use? Actually thinking about it, Minecraft always had items that served some sort of purpose in some way, big or small you could find a way to use almost everything in the game. I want secret Friday updates back, I want no more snapshots. I want to excited just to play the game again. I hope someone can agree to what I have to say, I don’t want to feel alone on this.

I just think that the game is too noisy. There's too much (I particularly dislike the new types of stone). Personally, I most enjoyed the time frame when villages/villagers were added. I don't feel that the base game needs much beyond that update. Mods for when you get bored, sure, but besides that, no.

I've only been playing Minecraft for just over 5 years (I joined the game in 1.6.4), but I am proud to say that I still have my very first world. Every year on the anniversary of when I bought the game, I get on that world and explore all my old and noobish builds. I have a sign outside my first house that I put how many years I've been playing the game. I think back to those early days when I had no clue on how to play the game. It was my infinite sandbox, and I could lose hours to it. I totally agree that there is a major part of the game missing. The updates have no more exciting and fun things in them. Sure, they're entertaining, but that's temporary. What will I go back for and play for the adventure of a new update? It's just not the same, and maybe it's because I've grown up since then, but Minecraft today feels like there is just a bunch of filler content and unnecessary additions. The game used to be so simple. Maybe it was just my computer, but after the 1.9 update, the game became laggy for me. I still love Minecraft for being the first video game I ever really played, and I still play it today just not as often as I used to. I love that Minecraft led me to find Mine-Imator, and now I plan on taking animation classes in college and pursue a career in animation. It's so weird to me, because it seemed like I blinked my eyes and went from a carefree kid to a young adult beginning to figure out the rest of my life. It truly hurts me to see Minecraft slowly become less and less what it used to be, but I don't regret any time I've spent playing.

Didn't expect all of that. I was going to write one or two sentences but I guess I've had this in me for a while now.

I think instead of the aquatic update, which had 0 purpose/use, I think they should focus more on aspects people enjoy, like villages. The village and pillage update is cool, gives you an incentive to defend villages. But the villagers themselves are just stupid. REVAMP THEM. Make them smart, able to protect themselves, etc. Here's something I will download whenever it comes out, because this is what I think Minecraft needs:
